Ff9

OK, I was wondering about a problem I'm having with FF9. Once in a while when an MDEC comes around, the emulator will just show the first 1-2 seconds and then skip it. This especially happened after the third black waltz and the movie where you fly through south gate. Also, when I have 4xFSAA on, the battle swirls don't work, they nearly crash everything. I know its not my video card, maybe its an incompatibility? Anyone else have this problem at all?

What the hell are you talking about? Anyway, I'm using an original black PSX CD I bought myself, so whatever patch crap you're talking about dosen't apply.

Try it from an ISO, and read my FAQ regarding FSAA and FF9

OK, I tried turning on Fake Subtractive Blending like the FAQ said, but the battle swirl sill slows down everything to like 10 fps, which should be impossible considering my configuration. I figure it must be something else. Here are my settings:

You have to change the Framebuffer mode to 0, and enable Full vRam primates.

The slow battle swirls is normal and this happen if you enable 4xfsaaa. If you follow Lord Kane advice, you must do that in realtime by pressing delete key because enabling Full Vram Primitive all the time will slow down everything.

Not on my machine, and looking at his card, it should be fine leaving it on all the time.

OK, the battle swirls are working now, but when I get into the actual battle, it slows down to about 40-50 FPS, as well as the music slowing down. Is there more I need to adjust in my config?

Kalisto refers to a cracked version of FF9 that was released as an iso on the internet.. It's illegal and has problems running on epsxe.. Don't ask where to get it..

Hmm.. Nigandahu:

I have a geforce 4 ti 4600 and FF9 runs full speed during battles and swirls.. I use FVP as Lord Kane said.. During battles, turn off FVP and set framebuffer to "hardware".. This may speed them up for you.. Check my profile for my full system specs.. I don't do this myself since the battles run full speed with FVP enabled on my system.. Also setting full screen smoothing to enabled slows things down.. Turn that off and see if it's faster.. Personally, I don't like it so I leave it off.. Only use the sprite smoothing filtering modes.. I also have 4xFSAA enabled..

Well, a TI 4400 is going to have almost the exact same performance as a 4600, very minor differences. Maybe you could post your entire specs so I can see if mine differ.
