Einhander freezes at the "Wait" screen

I've viewed the ePSXe compatibility list, and it's either the game runs perfect, or it hangs at the "Wait" screen. In my case, it's the latter.

Any thoughts on this? I tried a number of graphics plug-ins and the results are the same. Specifically, I tried PEOpS, Kazzuya's and Pete's DX6 D3D plug-ins.

For the people who got the game to run fine, were there any special settings that needed to be enabled?

I play this game all the time, without ever needing any special settings. You have the NTSC version, right? I'll post my settings here later, when I get home.

I didnt need any special settings...
try a different cdrom drive or ISO...

Hmmm, could it be the BIOS? I have scph1001. I understand that scph7502 is more popular among the users here...

there is no problem with Einhander w/ ePSXe 1.5.1
my pc are below but it runs fine (maybe slower sometimes)

I've got the japanese NTSC version...
Works fine with both scph1001 and scph7502. No special settings needed for me...

Hey !
What's your version an NTSC one ? Because there's two version of Einhander, the american one and the japanese one.
I've the japanese one and it works perfectly, another squaresoft legend !!!

mine is NTSC/J as well.
Perhaps the american version doesnt work?

yeah I have the US version also...and no problems here either with the default epsxe settings...also I'm using SCPH1001
BTW NextGL 1.9 frigg'n rules with this game...it totally has the water effect down pat in level 3.
Anyways..try disabling accurate cdrom timing in the CDROM dialog box...that might help.

Solved. Seems like you need to turn off "Accurate CDROM Timing".
