Since there is a Linux port of epsxe, do you think epsxe will run on the PS2 version of Linux?
If so, how well do you think it'll run? If it doesn't run, will someone have to make plugins specifically for the PS2? And one more thing, wouldn't it be just a little bit easier to start making a PS2 emulator on an actual PS2? I know these are stupid questions but I just had to ask, because it's been running through my mind ever since I pre-ordered the PS2 Linux kit.

Also, if you made the PS2 emulator on the PS2 Linux, you could probably use the emulator on a normal Linux PC (All Linux programs will work on Linux PS2, so why not vice-versa?).

No, I'm sorry because I can only explain my ideas as I think them, which is not very organized, as you can probably tell by this sentence.
Sorry for the headache.

No, I don't think it would work "as is", due to differences in memory and cpu much of the program would probably have to be re-written and heavily optimized (ie like bleamcast) for one or 2 games. And seeing as the PS2's is really not that powerfull... The system would probably be much better suited for doing ports of Snes emulators I'm afraid

Yes, like the one that is out now. Have a look in the PS2 forums.

Not Possible? From what I heard, Sony will be releasing a PS1 and PS2 emulator for PS2, (It's supposed to come on the disc that comes with the normal PS2 hard drive), that will be able to run demos of games that you download off the internet with the PS2! (But I'm sure it won't let you play import games, since the demos are probably going to be in some sort of special format, and the emus will probably only run that format.) If they can do it, why can't we? I don't remember where I read about this, but I'm pretty sure it was in a videogame magazine, and not just an internet rumor. If I'm completely wrong, send all your flames to: bouncerguy122@yahoo.com [He he he...]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the PS2 already run PS1 and PS2 games..why would you want to emulate them on a PS2?
This thread has me totally puzzled.

One of the things about compiling is people can't access the source.

Region lockouts are currenly software related, not hardware related. The reason why companies like sony put region locks on games is mainly because of Copyrights and Liscening. Sony loses very little money to imports for them to place region locks on their systems. as for ps2 emulation on a ps2? That is an insane idea. Just modify the system so that is bypasses the software region check. I sure that is alot easier (and pratical), that trying to create a ps2 emulator for the ps2. :eyes:
