Did you have enabled SPU IRQ ? (Wait for CPU action) .. if you use Pete DSound PSX SPU Audio Driver,you should have it enabled.

I got past it by using a Null SPU.

are you using savestates? if yes, don't use them. (reloading from savestates). I think this is what causes your problems.

I never used savestates in VP, yet it still gets stuck there.

i also got stuck at that part for once. and several time before and after that part.
i got past them by using savestate. not sure whether this will help. but it works for me. i use the savestate right before that guy start talking talking. which is before the girl went out.

try to use savestate often for the begining of the game until u reach chapter 1. coz i facing this problem too but i manage to get through using savestate.

Use the internal SPU and enable SPU IRQ hack works for me.
