Alright I give up... and ask for Help again.

I have tried for about 6 hours to get Final Fantasy 9 running.

Hell... I just don't get it.

The new ePSXe 1.51... and it is NOT running.

I tried EVERYTHING

Making an Iso, the new Subchannel Stuff...
ALL Sound, ALL Graphics Plugins...
ALL Tweaks and Settings...

I read every board entry for this, copied the settings posted to help other users...

NOTHING worked.

I get random crashes during the mpegs, the videos are all producing total picture garbage, nothing is working...

I didn't even reach playing Vivi during the introduction.

My Hardware is:
Duron700
Geforce 2 MX
SB 128
256MB Ram
ASUS 40x CD-Rom
Windows XP
ePSXe 1.51

Eternal Spu 1.2
Null2 Audio 1.3
Andy's Spu 0.16
Pete OpenGL1.58
Peops 1.4
Petes CDR Version 1.10

I know all this about having off-screen drawing set to 2 or 3
using the patch for ff9 in the special options...

Here are my specs:

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.1.58
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
GFX card: GeForce2 MX/AGP/3DNOW!

Resolution/Color:
- 640x480 Fullscreen - Desktop changing [16 Bit]
- Keep psx aspect ratio: on

Textures:
- R8G8A8A8
- Filtering: 0
- Garbage collection: on
- VRam size: 0 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: on
- FPS limit: 60

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 3
- Framebuffer texture: 1
- Alpha multipass: on
- Mask bit: on
- Advanced blending: on

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Line mode: off
- Unfiltered FB: off
- Dithering: on
- Screen smoothing: off
- Full vram: off
- Game fixes: on [00000200]

SPU Eternal:
Buffer Size : 10
Audio Out : New Thread
Wait for XA Buffer is free : On
Special Fix: Update before accessing register
Sound Settings:
Enable Sound: On
Enable CDDA: On
Enable MDECXA: On
Enable XA Read: On
Enable SPU IRQ Hack: On

I don't know, i believe that after 6 hours I have tried EVERY Combination of Settings/Plugins.

Maybe I just didn't get the Setting for Petes CDR Right...
I just don't KNOW...

And after 6 hours... my nerves are REALLY down...

Please anyone... help-

I run it from CD (as well as trying an iso) no use.

Direct 3D didn't work either

I am running FF9 with the following plugins and options. Sounds pretty good!!! First of all, make sure frame limiter is ON as if this is off then sound and graphics will travel at lightning pace.
I use: Petes D3d Driver 1.58 (with a geforce3 TI200) 1024x768 res, 32bit colour, Best colors, more ram needed, gfx card vram 64mb, extended and smooth sprites, smart texture garbage collection on, FPS limit (auto detect), Enhanced - shows more stuff, Hardware - fast not all cards suppport it, alpha multipass on, mask bit on, unfiltered framebuffer updates on, game fixes - G4 polygon cache for FF9. Null2's audio driver(SB Audigy) - 48000khz, 16bit, Buffer length 20, Block 2, enable tone cache on. On the config sound screen (where you choose plugin) tick all boxes.

This took alot of configuring. I found that the Petes openGL plugin had slowdown and all other sound plugins had scrambled sound in cut-scenes and played too fast in fights.

Its a bit long winded but its worth it. To compare heres my system spec:
Athlon XP 1800+
Windows98,
512 mb DDR ram,
MSI Geforce 3 TI200,
Abit KG7 mobo,
SB Audigy,
Samsung 19" flat screen monitor.

I ALWAYS PLAY FROM ISOs. Hope this helps.

Did it work with the previous version of epsxe? Have you tried reinstalling epsxe after clearing the reg entries? Have you changed anything in your system configuration lately?

It worked quite fine with Version 1.40
But i remember that i had similiar configuration problems back then.

My System has been the same for all the time and all other games are running just fine (Xenogears, Parasite Eve, Valkyrie Profile)

Right now I am trying to use your specs Dingle.

*ADD*

It worked!
more or less...
The Movies are still a mess, but they don't crash.
I have just reached the first savepoint without crashing!

Probably The Audio Driver together with Petes D3D did the trick.
Thank you very much.
I only hope that someday the movies will run normally..
