once again final fantasy tactics :-) (need some help)
ok this is my sad but true (ah nawww) story
![]() After trying out 100 plugins and 1.000 different settings i finally managed to get my FFT visuals matching ... well a bit matching ... the lovely graphics standard im used to from VGS (which suddenly stopped working with my virtual drive and doesnt accept my burned iso's ... but thats another story) ok, graphics is nice smooth and beautiful, sound is cool, but i keep getting freezes in certain situations for about 20 seconds, the whole emulator freezes, cant give menu commands or something in those seconds, and then the game runs on again. This happens exclusively ! in following situations: - moving to a new place on the world map - switching through characters on the Deployment screen (before battles) - casting a spell / using an ability - between deployment screen and "name of the map fades in and out again" my first thought was, that it was something about sound, but turning off the SPU didnt help at all :-( maybe someone experienced the same and / or found a workaround for that ? maybe i need a special fix ? hope someone can spare a minute and help me ... thanks in advance ![]() ask0r -- the guy that asks a lot ^ ^ |

Hmm, this almost sounds like a cd reading issue... Are you reading this off the cd or playing from a cd image? If your playing off the cd image id suggest picking up cdrwin and creating a bin/cue.. Im currently in the process of going through final fantasy tactics myself, im near the end in chapter 4 now.. The only real issue that i have is the world map is black(except when your moving).. Its stil quite playable so I just ignore it. Is there a fix for this? Anyways, about your freezing problem, give us a little more info. like what your system is, what plugins your using, whether its cd/disk image..etc

Try using it from an Iso and see if you have the same problem. Also try running it in soft (Peops)mode if you need to see everything.

yay
hey wow !
... I just played a bit around with the CD options, currently running without any freezes, thanks a lot for the hint ! theres still another major problem i didnt mention in my first post ... sometimes, about every 2nd time i start a battle, the game stops (but doesnt freeze) after the "map name fades in and out" screen. Then i reset once or sometimes twice, and it works again ... thats very strange, sometimes i have to do another battle first and then return to make it work (?) about my system and plug ins: System: AMD thunderbird 1000 , 512mb ram, geforce 2 ultra (64mb) , SB live and a toshiba 32x cdrom Video Plugin: Plugin: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.1.58 Author: Pete Bernert Card vendor: NVIDIA Corporation GFX card: GeForce2 GTS/AGP/3DNOW! It is a soft plugin for those without 3d vid cards, but it is more compatible than the Hardware accelerated counterparts.

ack the CD problem returned ... neither works with ISO or CDROM play , also tried mounting the iso on a virtual CDROM and turning off the CD plugin via -nocd command line. Anything else you guys could imagine that causes freezes (not always) in the situations mentioned above ?
