32bit VS 16bit..

Wonder how much the system resource or the display card's memory is being use when using 32bit color instead of 16bit..?

For me..I just didn't noticed any difference between 32 and 16..
Or it does have difference when using the microscope.??

I don't think there is much of a difference in playstation games. I don't think the PSX ever used as many colors as these cards support. I may be wrong however. So don't quote me on it.

32 bit looks nicer. Take two same screenshot, 16 bit and 32 bit. You will notice the different. Don't know about the other question.
MAYBE 256kb for 32bit and 128kb for 16bit

video memory

32 bit used twice as much of the video cards RAM as 16 bit does

While the original psx only had 15bit/24bit color modes, the enhanced/emulated stuff can still benefit from the 32bit modes, since shading/rendering etc.. will use the entire colour range afaik.

Correct me if I'm wrong please

32 bit looks better if you bother to pay attention to the graphics, then again if you didnt care for graphics you might as well run in software mode. but anyways yeah 32 looks better im used to it so i can tell the difference in between 16 n' 32.

Too bad ,my card doesnt support 32 bit mode but I think color dithering really makes 16 bit colors look quite good.

I don't know why anyone would talk smack about SoftGPUs. I upgraded my PC last December, before that, I was running a celeron 566 and only 256MB RAM with no video card. On Pete's softGPU I was geting full 60 fps. Plus softGPUs do a much better job running certain games (FFVII for example - battle swirl) And I hate to say it, but DW7 looks like crap with most of the 3d-accelerated plugins I have tried. I will only use Kazzuya's softGPU for that game. Plus in the earier days on ePSXe 1.2 a soft GPU solved many problems that existed with the emulation.

I really don't have eagle eyes, but in Final Fantasy IX, I can see the difference at first look!
I started to play it with 5/5/1 textures in 16bpp / dithered mode and it was quite OK. Then I switched to 32bpp and it was _beautiful_!

Well, it depends of your system configuration. Some gfx cards are slower with 32-bit depth, others not. Also, some cards are faster with OpenGl in 32 bit than Direct3D. Just try it and see the results.

Try Chrono Cross. It is probably the only game that has better graphics than FF9
