Go to Best Buy or a computer store and buy the gravis game pad pro. This have the layout exactly like the playstation 1 game pad. Go here

http://www.gravis.com/products/pro_eli_c1005.html

the 4th one down is the one i have and it works fine. The best thing is it's usb so it's plug and play. oh yeah try to find a store that sell this for around $10-$15.....if it's $20 then u paying too much.

hope this helps

Ugh, those Gravis punks. Actually I don't know whether to be more annoyed at them or at Microsoft. A few months ago I was playing with my good ol' Gravis GamePad Pro (GamePort - the old one) and it started having random button hits (start in particular liked triggering randomly for no reason) and even when I cleaned it I had this problem. So I decided to get a new PSX shaped gamepad so I went fot the Gravis Eliminator GamePad Pro (USB) and it rocked and worked really well.

Until I installed XP that is... it didn't work at all - not recognized. I tried installing and running Gravis' EXTREMELY unstable XP Beta drivers, but no matter what I tried I couldn't get it working. I then checked out the MS HCL and only a select few of Gravis' pads are 2k/XP compatible.

Strangely enough, I started using the old GamePad Pro GamePort again and now it's working fine (well now there's still a very rare random "start" triggering but like once a week). Hmph.

Converters or cables to connect a PSX pad to your PC are perfectly legal. I use such a cable myself. It is called the KIKI-joy and it is made by Soyo the Motherboard Manufacturer. I am using a PSX Pad clone called the Double Tremor and combined w/the KIKI-joy cable, I get excellent response and perfect rumble in my games.
cloudrain1, Direct Pad Pro is perfectly legal. What you get are the instructions and you have to go out and buy the materials to build the adapter yourself. The Direct Pad Pro site also supplies drivers for Direct Pad Pro, but I think Direct Pad Pro has been discontinued. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it has.
rajatjain35, my suggestion is that you get a USB to PSX cable (around $10 (US)) and a nice used PSX Dual Shock Controller (around $14 to $15 (US)). Then you'll have the compatability w/the PSX games that you want.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

I'm currently using a Logitech Wingman Rumblepad. PCGamer's hardware guru recommends this pad for their dream system, which was why I got it. Now I see why. This thing is an absolute dream to use. I've had zero problems with it. 40 bucks canadian without tax.

Strange, 'cuz I've been using my Gamepad Pro USB with WinXP Pro for the past few months and I never had a problem. In particular, it works. It shows up in the game controller section of the control panel and I'm using the GamePad PRO USB driver which came with XP.

Yeah, the GamePad Pro USB is supported by XP, but the Eliminator Pro isn't so I needed the Gravis drivers and they didn't work out at all. I tried using it on my computer, my roommate's computer, and a friend's computer - all of us XP users, with very different systems and settings. And it didn't work with any - XP wouldn't recognize it. Very irritating.

PS-PC USB Converter

Hi,
I just spotted this topic. I got my PS-PC Controller converter TODAY!...well about 30 minutes ago.
I ordered it online from lik-sang.com last Sunday, They are a Hong Kong based company.
So far it seems very simple to set up. I've tried it with non-Epsxe programs, such as M.A.M.E and Midtown Madness 2 and it works a treat. The Rumble works using Direct X, just as the Microsoft and other brand Rumble Controllers do, Though it's a hell of a lot cheaper. I actually logged on to try and find something out however.
I'm having difficulty setting up the Analogue pad and the Rumble support in EpsxE. I assume I should be using the Direct X Rumble Control..but also it has options to set the big motor and the small motor of the pad; I havent got a clue what to do here because the options are Sine and Cosine??
Well, I guess I'll just have to stick with it.

Constant means that when the rumble is activated, it will be of constant strength. Sine means it will rumble... spasticly... on and off. Set to taste. Also, if Directx doesn't work for some reason, try Brutter. Make sure you controls are set to Digital/Analogue and try pressing f4 in some games to kickstart it. Tinker around. I had to to get mine working the first time.
