ePSXe 1.5.0 works fine on Windows XP, at least for me. It must be your config. Do other games work or have you only tried ff9? I did notice on the plugins list that it says the SPU was not found, that may have something to do with it. Have you tried other plugins like Pete's D3D 1.58 or Eternal SPU 1.2? Do you have the lates video and soundcard drivers? With directx 8.1 it's critical to have up to date drivers. What video card do you have? ok, i'll start with that. let me know and i'll see what i can figure out .

Similar Problems

I have similar problems w/ 1.50 and ff9. I have never used any emulators before so this is my first time trying any game as well. But I get the same error, "patch not found". It plays for a bit but then it goes to a black screen when I try to start a new game. I tried several gpus and they all give me same error. I also have my cd plugin (petes) set so that it is very non-aggressive (one sector at a time, limit to 2x, etc.).

btw, I am also running win xp pro.

Any ideas?

Make sure you don't have the "auto load ppf files" option enabled.. It's in the options menu of epsxe.. Or make sure the correct patch is in the "patch" directory of epsxe.. I am using epsxe 1.5 just fine and dandy on winxp pro..
