In response to your questions:
Maybe and no. Quite informative, eh? Have a nice day.

yes it IS possible to emulate the PS2, it is possible to emulate ANYTHING, just weather or not anyone can do it is another thing.

Man... these kids at my school are so bloody convinced that they have working PS2 emulators on their hard drives... it's makin' me nuts! One of them said he was downloading a PS2 emu w/ GTA3. Guess what he got? Yeah, the GTA3 Beta for PC. Man.

Go to Pete's website and see what he has to say about this. Of course it is possible to emulate, just not with current computers though. The PS2 is way more powerfull. Think about what we need to emulate a PSX game properly. We need highend systems for that. Imagine what we will need for a PS2 emulator. Another thing is the fact that the system is soooooo complicated. THere would be tons of stuff to emulate.

Can a PS2 be emulated?
Yes. Is it possible that it will be emulated soon? No. Here are the reasons: Speed: Project64 recommends at least an 800MHz CPU now to emulate the rather slow N64. In the PS2 the CPU alone is clocked more than 3 times faster than the N64 one, not to mention that it's multi-issue. But there are still the two vector processors and the graphics chip. I'd assume that you need at least a 4GHz processor to even start of thinking to emulate the PS2 at a decent speed! Complexity: Saturn emulation is still in its early stages despite the Saturn being quite old. This is simply due to the complexity of the system, but the PS2 is much more complex than the Saturn! So even if our machines are fast enough to emulate the PS2 theoretically it takes some time to conquer that beast. Bugs: According to PS2 programmers it machines is full of design and hardware bugs that even with the official documentation almost nobody knows the thing inside out. All these bugs have to be found and replicated be the emulation programmer, and that will take a lot of time. If this process it skipped it's very likely that most games won't run correctly. Resume: We probably have fast enough computers in 1 or 2 years but it'll take at least another 2 or 3 years until the first PS2 emulators (ie. those that really emulate games) will turn up. Until then Sony probably will have released the PS3 and we'll have to answer the same question again for that machine... I guess writing this is a waste of time anyway, since the same question will come up next week anyway...

PS2 emulator
to make authors life easy-er, why don't we set a ps2 emulation standard platform besed on linux technology.
sure, those peeps who design emulator have to learn another language for building linux (maybe not ). but it virtually elimates the system bog caused by Windows (those M$ worm who is doing nothing but consume junk food all day should be damn'ed).those were my humble opinions

Maybe you should save it in a notepad file. So you can just copy-paste next time

Argh, not another of these threads. If you want a fscking PS2 so bad, get a PS2. There will NOT be a perfect emulator for what will likely be quite a while. As noted in http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthre...threadid=10600, I'm going to lock this thread for wasting our time on this pointless discussion for the umpteenth time.
