What sound plugin/settings to use for FF7?

What sound plugin should I use for FF7, and which settings should I tick and untick? I am using Pete's dsound driver 1.14. Thanks very much.

don't have that game but you can try Eternal SPU 1.2, which provide the best sound quality.

Where do I download that?

It seems that if I use the core SPU, magic makes quiet sound but actual attacks are a bunch of beeping and the sound sometimes stutters a bit. If I use Pete's sound 1.14 attacks sound normal but magic makes no sound, and there is no stuttering.

I am using an nForce motherboard 1GHz processor 256 MB DDR and Windows XP...epsxe version 1.5.0.

thanks for any advice.

You can get the new version at a number of places, including http://www.ngemu.com/psx/plugins.php?page=spu. Yes, magic should have sound effects during the spell, and Eternal does them just fine. The default settings will do.
