Controller doesn't control FF7

I just bought FF7 for PSX and I am running epsxe 1.5 and Pete's plugin 1.58 for windows. I can't actually control the game though with the controller, though it works in test mode and it works in epsxe for FF8. Anyone know why it doesn't work with 7? Or is FF7 not compatible with epsxe?

I am using a PSX dualshock controller with a psx to usb converter called "psjoy". I can't get the vibration feedback to work either with any game.

thanks in advance...I'm new to epsxe.

press f4. If that doesn't work press f5. If that doesn't work try both of them.

Thanks...I tried that, but it didn't start the game. Is it impossible to start a new game of FF7 in epsxe? If so, can someone post a saved state right near the beginning please?

I am able to start FF7 just fine.. Make sure you set controller type to digital.. FF7 doesn't use analog controls.. Press f4 twice or press f5 then f4..

Thabjs...toggling it with F5 didn't do anything, but when I went to the game pad setup, I set the controller to dgital only.

Now I just have to figure out how to get the sound working...I tried saving and loading a state, and when I load, the music doesn't come back...at least for a while.

And it's running kinda slow, so I'm gonna mess around with it and try and find the best video settings, unless anyone has any recommendations:

I have an AMD 1GHz nForce bard, 256MB DDR, PEte's open gl plugin 1.58, windows xp...I don't know what else matters...
