Fudge screen smoothing way too slow...
God damn it.. it looks kinna cool. I haven't tried it on many games just one. Street Fighter EX2 Plus and I noticed that the backgrounds and the ground look much better but damn is it ever slow...
I always use 4XFSAA and always get 60fps but this time with screen smoothing I get like 35+ fps and the sound gets screwed too cause is too slow. I guess it should be ok for people with geforce 3 cards or so or maybe if I don't use 4XFSAA but then it will look like **** anyways... Nice try Pete is just too damn slow for my Geforce 2 GTS though. 2XSAI would be a lot faster and would look nice as we have seen it in Nickk's plugin. |

I guess it also a question of CPU Power not only of your graphics card !
Which PlugIn from Nikk has 2xSAI ? I haven't found an option for switching it on, neither in the Direct3D nor in the OpenGL Version !

I set everything to highest, with 4xfsaa and full screen smoothing, 800x600x32bit,running winamp at the same time while playing Tekken 3 , but the fps still stay at 60, and i have a card almost same as u, Geforce2 gts pro. Hmmm, which driver are u using? I am using 27.2x, may be u can try some leak drivers to see whether they give u any performance boost. Btw,Sxamiga also has a Geforce2 gts, may be u can pm him and ask him about the performance after enabled the full screen smoothing. |

Oh yeah.....i found the thread with the pics, i 2xSAI combined with pete's Enhanced Filtering with Sprite Smoothing and Screen Smoothing would be the ultimate thing....when you got a very fast PC!

wow yo get 60 fps?
I'm running Deonator 21.83 I'm using Pete's OGL 1.58 of course, 1024x768 res. 4X FSAA and Anisotropic filtering 16-tap. Also 32-bit color . Oh yeah I used Geforce Tweak utility to set all my settings to the best possible image. And my video card is clocked at 218/394 right now I get 60fps solid all the time but turning smooth screen totally screws my fps. I get 35-45+ very choppy. I guess I'll give those drivers you mentioned a try. Other than that maybe you are not using Anisotropic filtering I could turn that off. Oh yeah here is the rest of my specs 1.55Ghz Tbird 512 megs RAM SBlive Soundcard Windows XP Pro Another thing... I use 1024x768 cause when using a lower res my monitor produces some small scanlines which don't look good on 3D games. Plus I always get 60 fps on PSX games even at 1280x1024 with 4X FSAA. |

mmm it depends on the game I guess..
Ran Wipeout XL and it never slows down... also tried Twisted metal 3 and it did slow down at some points. Turning off Anisotropic filtering made work 60/60. But none of that helped Street Fighter EX2 Plus. Nothing worked unless turning off FSAA. So is a huge performance hit for some games and yet some games will not take the performance hit and other will take it but not as much. Oh yeah this time I used Detonator 27.20, with 4X FSSA and Anisotropic filtering. I didn't tough any other settings... except for Vsync I always turn that off as well. Not even using 16-bit color helped me run Street Fighter EX2 Plus at a nice speed without it being choppy. Again without screen smoothing everything runs 60/60 with my settings set to max. |
