XA Audio playback in MMX5 gets choppy when the framerate is below 50 fps. This also happens with MMX4. I don't know if this occurs with MMX6.
To get more speed with XA music in MMX5 u can:
1) Use the -noseekinxa command-line option
2) Use the -p 12 cmd-line option. This is good to improve MMX5 XA Audio playback performance, but control response turns a bit slower. Try with other values for -p if u want, but don't use very high values (unless you want to see the movies) because emulation gets slower.
3) If the game is for NTSC, try forcing it to PAL mode.
4) Try using a 2D plugin. They are best for 2D games. I recommend using Kazzuya's plugins or PEOpS.

Hope it can help

Well, it runs almost perfectly on Win98. Sound gets a bit choppy at the Duff McWhalen's stage (this is good for testing!!!!). You can also improve overall performance using a simple sound plugin. I recommend using Seal at 22050Khz Stereo without filtering. Pete's MIDAS is a good alternative.

You can also try with Connectix VGS emu, the MMX Series (maybe other 2D games) run at full speed with K6-2s if your gfx card is fast enough and supports hardware stretching. The only problem is sound latency but the game runs at 60fps all the time.

Well, hehe, do as you want, maybe VGS doesn't detect your gfx card features. I get better performance for 2D games in VGS than in ePSXe. But VGS doesn't work on WinXP so I need to dual-boot Win98 to get it working.

Hoo boy, illegal content in the thread, going way off the topic, and spammish activities.

> how does dual booting work

Do a "search" for dual boot. There are a number of threads already talking about dual booting.

Since this thread violates numerous rules, I'll lock this thread now.
