Chrono Cross Problems with PEOpS

I'm using Chrono Cross with the latest version of PEOpS, because I prefer it in some points to the OpenGL plugin. I have a GeForce2 GTS and an Athlon Thunderbird 1Ghz. Occaisonally through the game, it slows down considerably. One such area is while on the ghost ship at the beginning. When I make it to the outside of the ship after the ghost attack, and get into a fight, the game slows down a lot, hovering somewhere between 7 and 25 FPS. Is there any way to fix this? My current PEOpS settings are:

Plugin: P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.1.4
Author: Pete Bernert and the P.E.Op.S. team

Resolution/Color:
- 640x480 Fullscreen - [16 Bit]

Framerate:
- FPS limit: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: Auto

Misc:
- Scanlines: disabled
- Game fixes: off [00000000]

If anyone has experienced this problem or knows how to fix it, please help! Thanks.

What SPU are you using?

Just force your computer a bit more... I mean, it can take it.
