ePSXe 2D background problem?
VGS background is better than ePSXe's, why? Especially in FF9, the background is terrible to me, I hate it. In VGS, the 3d display is too bad. my video card is voodoo3 2000, what do I should set Plugins? gpuLewGlide 1.35 part of 3d and part of 2D in a boat, impossible? Useing gpuLewGlide in FF9, the background is a too bad as if a damn in my home, please give me a hand.

Depends on the games. Some games that have 2D/3D combined look perfect on emulators. Others look like crap.
Like: Gran Turismo 2 and Parasite Eve 2, those games seem to look amazing even though they do have 2D as well. well for menus, scores and stuff like that. Then games like Dino Crisis 2 and many others look like ****. The 3D looks ok if you use a 3D plugin but 2D looks like ****. Or the 2D looks good if you use a software plugin but the 3D looks like ****... There just isn't a plugin that can handle both 2D/3D at the same time perfect in all games. Actually it seems that the only 2D/3D games that look the best are the ones that the emu authors have spent a lot of time trying to get to run perfect or at least close to perfect. However if PC games can candle 2D/3D at the same time using D3D or OGL or Glide. That means there has to be a way to make the PSX plugins work like that I would think. Is just a matter of time perhaps. |

To get your 2D to look nice also try fitering. I have posted here a screen shot from DW VII which has a 3D world but 2D characters. As you can see from the screen shot, the characters look as nice as the 3D surroundings. I use Pete's plugins (I have a GEForce card) but I'm sure that Lewpy's fine Plugin has filtering as well. Give filtering a try, I think that you will be pleasantly surprised.

I have a FF7 PC version originally, It is looks like very well. The Game was transplant by SQUARE, wasn't it? This Game that have 2D and 3D combined looks like perfect on my computer. If we have a emulators that have such effect, and then we have a small dog.

Yeah maybe FF7. I can't say cause I don't like RPGs and I have never played FF7 for PSX or PC
However the PC NFS games look sweet. The 2D/3D looks great. So I'm thinking if it's possible for the PC games to look great, there has to be a way to use the same filtering mode on a PSX emulator through a plugin. I know it must be a ***** to program it probably. But it just a thought... It would be nice to some day have PSX emulation handle any game 2D or 3D or both 2D/3D and improve the visuals for both 2D and 3D at the same time. Just like PC games do.. I mean playing with the filtering modes helps a lot, but it doesn't help all games. In some cases the text just looks too nasty and no filtering is better than any filtering at all. In games like Dino Crisis 2. The 2D backgrounds look very ugly with both Pete's OGL or D3D. Other than that. Games that are just 2D or use just a little 2D have no problem... or you don't even notice... |

pff.. I have seen some shots of Dino Crisis 2 on epsxe and they looked great.. 2d and 3d.. You just have to have the right hardware and gpu configs..
1. 4xFSAA helps greatly with 2d backgrounds 2. playing at a resolution of a multiple or the closest match to the original psx resolution does wonders for 2d backgrounds.. There is less pixel stretching.. 3. Petes gpu pluggins has a 2d smoothing option which is similar to FSAA.. I usually play all my games at 640x480 with 4xFSAA enabled.. Makes FF9 2d\3d look great.. The best would be to use petes gpu pluggin with 4xFSAA and sprite smoothing, but you will need a pretty hefty comp to do it.. I can do if fine on my system, but I like using lewpys glide pluggin.. Here is a shot of what I mean.. Nice looking 2d and 3d isn't it..

You stated that you have a 32MB nVidia GeForce2 DDR, right. So just turn it on....

So its not a program?
Can anyone teach me how to get to the dialog to enable that? under epsxe's pete's gpu config screen? or the hardware profile itself?? \snypes

To enable/disable for ALL 3d accelerated games (psx, pc, or otherwise) go to display properties->settings->advanced->gf2 tab->additional properties->3d antialiasing settings and change it from there. Alternatively you can also download nvmax www.nvmax.com or the anti-aliasing utility (don't feel like searching it up right now) for more in depth anti-aliasing tweaking.
