Back to the topic, i've seen that thread and it's a very nice idea to implement gfx plugins in mame, IMHO.

Well, let me say it clearly then, I don't need an emu that runs PSX-like games as if they were running on a SNES. Well, ok, they'd be running well here, but I think mame is going too far, next time they'll do Naomi 1/2/3, I guess we'll need THz system to run them, when a dedicated emu would do much better.

I agree with Raziel - there should be a dedicated emu. Mame is a bit slow for such things

Hence the plugin idea in mame. It would really increase the emulation speed in the games that use them. As PeteB said in that thread, implementing his Soft gpu plugin into mame provided an amazing speed increase for those psx based arcade games(lets email peteb to release it

). I also like dedicated emulators too, but having the games all in mame at good speeds would be great as well.

You have to also be aware that most of these "Dedicated" emulators are getting a lot of information about emulating those games from MAME's source codes and authors. I don't think we'd be where we are today in arcade emulation without MAME.
