Re: Pete's PSX GPUs V1.74 Released!! and and opgl2.1

Great! Using them with good results.

To Pete:

Why does the pixel shader does not work with Radeon 8500? Are you using the new pixel shader?

Any plans for including the old pixel shader like the ones in my card?

Re: Pete's PSX GPUs V1.74 Released!! and and opgl2.1

This GPU plug-in rocks, now alot of my favorite games work and they look awesome, keep up the excellent work!

Just to answer the first part of the question above: I think pete actually is using the new pixel shaders because it said in the update summary that they are supposed to support nextgen cards i.e. anything with DirectX 9 / OpenGL 2 support built in and I don't believe the RADEON 8500 has those, but I'm not sure. Hope this answers your question even thought I'm not Pete.

From what I have heard/read about the new video cards vs. the older ones, I would say that you hit it right on the "mark" with your explanation zenogais. You are certainly proving that you know your way around the construction of emus and the plugins associated w/them. Thanks for the info.
sincerely,

Re: Pete's PSX GPUs V1.74 Released!! and and opgl2.1

zenogais : yeah, i thought so too, Pete is really going to make the ogl2 plugins for next gen card so no suprise there, but who knows if he can support the old pixel shader, i'll keep my hopes up.

So anyone has tested the new pixel shader filter?
How is it?
Sshots are very much appreciated!

For the curious:
No, pete has not fixed the GF4 crashing bug. I suspect someone will ask before long.

Pete has used GL_ARB_vertex_program and GL_ARB_fragment_program extensions

GL_ARB_vertex_program is supported by Radeon 8500+

BUT
GL_ARB_fragment_program is Only Supported by Radeon 9500+

http://www.ati.com/developer/atiopengl.pdf
page 3 and 4

ATI
Pete OGL2.1's Shader effect could only work in Radeon 9500 9700 9800.
That's all.

What about the FX cards? Using nv30 emulation with rivaturner I got it to NOT crash, but it was terribly slow(~6fps).

They work fine on my Geforcefx.

So basicly Pete's OpenGl2 plugin is for newer DX9 cards?

You could say that. I think some of the OGL extensions aren't supported by older generation video cards. The Nv3x and R3xx cards fully support the OGL 1.4 spec. GeforceFx cards are more OGL 1.5 compliant at the moment though.
