FPSë update... maybe?

After a few compatibility list updates in the beginning of July, Mr.Fog has been quiet until today... where he made a weird post (even by his standard).
http://it.geocities.com/fpseemulator/main.htm
Not to be outdone by ePSXe? I guess we'll see very soon?
???
huh?

Question

Hmm, very stange indeed. It will be interesting to see what the FPSE team has up "their" sleeve. I doubt that, whatever it is, it will even come close to overshadowing ePSXe's new release though. Just have to wait and see.
sincerely,

Sorry, I take anything Mr Fog says with a salt cellar. I don't disparage LDChen and Sapu, but Mr Fog has made so many outrageous claims in the past....

Re: FPSë update... maybe?

Is it me or the original post was modified ? Can't find the weird part, just some screenshots.
Though I couldn't care less about FPSe, Mr Fog totally destroyed its reputation, and even if LDChen is a good coder, he should have get rid of him, cause it looks like LDChen liked what Mr Fog did.

Re: FPSë update... maybe?

They appear to be good friends..so that is not likely that they seperate...

LDChen is indeed an amazing coder...and it would please us if in gact a new FPSe was released...we know they have been coding an awful lot lately.....However it seems as if LDChen lost interest in his WIN32 version......We would have to actually hear from LDChen to believe a new release is coming....no effence to MrFog....but LDChen has refuted claims made by MrFog in the past.....guess we will see

You don't know the LDChen's motivations to keep Mr Fog. They may be friends IRL, or what not...

Re: FPSë update... maybe?

I think this is the case of +mr.fog+ beating a dead horse. He's trying to keep people's interests in an emulator which will probably never see another public release ever again...which is really kinda sad.

But if the emu were released, I would still like to use it

Re: FPSë update... maybe?

LDChen not only works on the Win32 version all the time, but also works on native FPSE plugins as well. It has been a known fact that LDChen wants better Native FPSE Plugin support before releasing another version of FPSE. Let me tell you it is far from dead, and I am not trying to hype it or anything, and as Dark Watcher stated, he is an amazing coder, and a good friend to me as well. As you will see on the latest post the bios has been emulated and no need for a Sony bios, which brings LDChen closer to what he has always wanted. Perfect and complete hardware emulation, main reason you don't see a lot of the extras in FPSE.

Re: FPSë update... maybe?

Raziel, or anyone who missed it,
Mr.Fog posted a message in gigantic bold font "HP" with title "tomorrow". Turns out it's just Harry Potter, sheeeeesh.

Sorry everyone for that. I shouldn't be too hopeful...
But I agree with Keith. I don't think Mr.Fog is "beating on a dead horse". He's merely trying to publicize the team's progress, who don't really talk much. I do hope that they release it tho, one day.

Then I'd rather the FPSë team not to post anything and release someday(just like ePSXe), than to have some useless updates (compatibilty report ? who cares, no one has it except them, and as for Harry Potter, well, you get the picture ).
Mr Fog is just someone we'd call a lamer if he was posting here.

Re: FPSë update... maybe?

Many emulator sites post the same types of posts all the time. Heck Icarus is one example of an emulator that is not released, and nobody has a clue when it will be released, but it still posts WIP, Compatibility, and screens. I wouldn't call them useless .. but hey if you want to disrespect someones hard work, be my guest.

Re: FPSë update... maybe?

I think +mr.fog's+ post is a very different case than cyruss making a screen shot update to Icarus. Icarus isn't released, and it's nice to see *new* screen shots of games that aren't emulated yet. However, +mr.Fog+ is different he already posted screen shots of "harry potter" running in fpse several months ago...and now he reposts some more shots of the same game? (especially just one day after epsxe's release) If he was going to show something at least he could show something new that hasn't been posted already.

anyways, I am fully aware of how far fpse has progressed, but I also know LDchen's stance on releasing another version *especially* for windows, right now there is a snowball's chance in Hell of that happening (Infact the odds are better for the snowball). If anything if LDchen does decide to release it, it would most likely be a linux only release.

Re: FPSë update... maybe?

Nahh that was the other Harry Potter Game, and that Snowball just might hit you in the face before you know it .. take it from a person with connections

Besides I was just using Icarus as an Example, I could have used a number of Emulator sites that do the very same thing. Also there is some of us who do enjoy hearing abut FPSE and it's development, I see nothing wrong with his posts. To each his own I suppose, I am done with this thread.

Harry Potter is one of the games no PSX emu (not even VGS) can run properly, so it would be a good proof for high hardware compatibility, if FPSE would be able to run it without sound glitches and lock-ups.

Earlier he posted screenshots from this game but only at the title screen (actually game was perhaps stuck at that title screen). Now he is posting ingame shots and as pete said if fpse is running both harry potter games without hangs and sound problems then its definitely a big acievement. I am not writing off fpse as yet. Gun con support and hle bios emulation shows that its definitely maintaining its position in the big league.

As far as ldchen goes he is definitely an asset to emulation scenario.I talked to him through pms/emails and he was trying to make fpse slightly better before a release.

And yes, if ldchen is reading this, these days I have lots of spare time and I am still waiting for your mail.

Thanks.
