New Detonator Drivers 43.51 Windows 2k/XP
The archive's files are dated 2 April 2003 which makes this the newest set available. Furthoermore all NVIDIA graphics cards to date are compatible with these drivers which includes the new GeForceFX 5200, 5600 and 5800 series. No word yet on any performance increases. The archive includes a setup.exe for easy installing. Language files are removed for a smaller archive which makes these drivers visible in English only. Download them(8.8MB) at http://download.guru3d.com/detonator/ I'm downloading & testing them. I'll let you know how they perform. |

okay just tried these drivers out, there one problem in these driver's I noticed in the Refresh Rate Override when I set 1280X1024 to 75 Hertz and start up a game in that resolution with that refesh rate my sceen just turns off everytime a minor problem, but the FSAA modes all work better now unlike in the 43.45 det driver's. performance is great in all games and emu's, I give these drivers a 8/10 and recommand them and Galway no Sora I tried them with my old GeForce3 Ti200 and there was no slowdown and I'm still waiting for your test results Phoenix

ok I was kind of busy but here's what I noticed about these drivers: The refreh rate issue is still present in the GTA 3 game. FSAA modes and anisotropic filtering are almost the same performance for me, slightly faster and better quality . I noticed slightly speed increase in DirectX aplications(5%). In OGL a bit decrease in speed(5%-10%), but lighting/shadows effects looks better than 43.45's. As for image quality some effects look s better, about 20% less vivid colors than the 43.45's but still the 43.45 have the best image quality. What I noticed too is that the intellisample default option is set to "quality" not in "balanced" as the previous drivers, not much differences switching between them though. |

Well sxamiga whether you decide to give the 43.45 and the 43.51 detonators drivers a try, don't use as a parameter the image quality and performance of your Radeon 9700 Pro , but I'm sure you'll be amazed with these drivers quality/performance with your daughter machine.

That's right, I keep forgetting that dhkim now has a 9700 pro video card also. So you would definately be able to compare the two. May I ask one favor please? Could you continue to compare the two as more new drivers become available from Nvidia? That way we can see what the drivers are doing for the GF cards as compared to the 9700 and 9800 pro cards. That is if you don't mind doing this and as long as dhkim does not mind either. Thanks. sincerely, sx/amiga |

I don't mind as it is something that I enjoy doing, as for dhkim I think he wouldn't mind either but I can't speak for himself .Mhh.... The results won't be so much comparable as I should have a GeForce FX in order to make the comparision more "competitive" in the drivers domain, although the hardware differences does actually mark the difference. Don't worry I'll keep doing that, I hope yeloazndevil keeps testing the Nvidia's drivers as well. |

Great!!! Thanks guys. It will be nice to see how ATI and Nvidia "keep pace" with each other. I agree w/you Phoenix, I too hope that yeloazndevil will keep on testing the Nvidia drivers as well and you also Phoenix. IMHO you both do an excellent job. dhkim, nice to see you too. Is Splinter Cell good? I ask because I might consider getting it as well. How's the Nomad? Still enjoying it I hope.:grin:sincerely, sx/amiga |
