I don't think a change to the certification standards would require a new version of DX9. It's most likely just a bugfix version.

Actually DirectX 9.0 if this were to occur would have to have a few changes done on DirectX level to ensure no rendering bugs occur.

So much for expecting 9.1 to be the next version of DX. ~10 minutes time of download isn't much, but the again it's getting boring each time some update is released to have to download the same amount of crap.

is 9.0 that much better than 8.1? (8.1 was the last 8.x, right?)

right, the DX 8.1 was the last DX8 series. Actually the last for win9x and ME was DX8.1b and DX8.1 for Win2k/XP.

As for its capabilities, is better. If you have a DX9 compatable card it'd be a must have. As my vid card is DX8.1 compliant I think DX9 wouldn't do much for me unless I play games that require DX9.

ah, i'm sure my vid card is 8.1 so theres no reason to download it. thats good, i wouldn't want to steal the internet's bandwidth downloading that enormous file.

actually the last DX8 was 8.2, it wasn't publically released since it was meant for ppl who had problems with certain games

Well Dx 9a is great! I was having some troubles with static in games on my a7n8x. I installed this, played CS for about 1 1/2 hrs and no static at all.

sorry, but what does "static" mean? Do you mean popping noises in audio?
