you could always try getting a (file type) --> MP3 converter plugin for winamp and then burn em to a CD. Ive not had luck finding a good converter so that I can do so myself, but I know people that have.

Consequentially, does anyone know where I can get a really good converter plugin for winamp? Ive done some searches at the winamp site and some random sites, but most of what Ive found is crap, and the one or two I got that looked decent I was never able to figure out how they worked so that I could get decent quality on the conversion.

You can use the nullsoft disk-writer plugin to save it as a wav, and then razorlame to convert it to mp3.

For MP3 conversion I prefer CDex.

For our Linux users out there there has been a new release of Highly Experimentel (sp?) for XMMS which brings the version up to 0.6.1

Unfortunately I can't find a changelog.

Mods: if this is the improper place for this feel free to move/delete it

By the way: I have been visiting the USF Central Message Boards quite frequently (and I'm gonna post some more stuff in our USF section) and they seem to have discovered a pretty easy/fast way to rip them without having to search the whole ROM for music related stuff (only a little just to isolate the code). I wonder if this might be also possible with PSX and PS2 games now that PCSX2 is showing such progress...

Like making a save state, removing all that unnecessary code, adding a music selection hack... They seem to have a batch ripper somehow which of course requires some programming skill, but I truly wonder if this might be possible for PSX/PS2, too.

I beleive they've always used Savestates for USF... I remember some arguments on PSF_Rippers because Neill wasn't very fond of the idea.

Updates:

Saiyuki (PSF) and Growlanser 2 (PSF2) have been ripped.

Man, I'd love to see Star Ocean 3 or Xenosaga ripped. These soundtracks rock'n'roll!

You can, but I doubt that anyone will do it

This thread is more a release-reporting thread.

Yea, does anyone know of a place where people who do this sorta thing take requests? Cuz I agree that Star Ocean 3 would be sweet. And I could think of a few other games I would liked to see ripped.......for example....is anyone else sick and tired of finding old, crappy versions of FF VI soundtracks that have custom made music that is god awful? Id give anything for a good PSF of the music from that game from the anthology version.

As I already told others, requesting a PSF won't help much, because the few who are capable of doing it (ripping involves good knowledge of PSX assembly) usually have their own plans. And lots of other stuff to do.

Besides: FFIV - VI were originally made for SNES. The PSX versions except for FFV sound exactly like the SNES soundtracks, so making a PSF won't be necessary. Get the SPC instead.

Check out Lawrence Lin's PSF mirror. There has been a new release (Dragon Quest VIII !!!) and a - well, sort of - new WIP section containing as the name indicates Work-in-Progress titles. There's some pretty good stuff among those.
