Phoenix, I'll be happy to give a full report on the GeForce FX when I get it. I'll be watching and waiting and as soon as it is released I'll get one. In the mean time though, I'm getting a preview of what it will be like. Through Riva Tuner I have NV30 emulation enabled and I can see the difference. Now that I have installed DX 9, every thing is still running fine and it is faster too. DX 9 seems to speed up certain processes and I have had no problems w/it at all.
When I am able to get a card (the GeForce FX) that will fully utilize DX 9, I expect that the results will excellent. I would reccomend to anyone to give DX 9 a try. It works and it works well.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

Hey, I can't get 3D Mark 2001 SE to work after installing DX9.
It says that it needs DX8.1... Do I need to get a patch or something??

Something interesting is that DirectX 9 is still available for Win98 - (2 generations older than Windows XP Home), it looks like MS is not stupid enough to piss off current Windows users, yet.

You maybe right, but the FAQ represents that Win98 is supported (though not in the official download page )

I think that MS realizes that there are still a lot of WIN 98 and WIN ME users out there who are not going to switch to another OS. So it is in their best interests to keep these users happy as well and make DX 9 compatable w/those OSes as well.
Shadow Lady, no, I will not be using my GF4 TI 4600 after I get the GeForce FX. I'll keep you in mind after I do get the GF FX.
sincerely,

Last time I checked, that was their standard support policy: Current version + Previous two.

It will if you have detonator 40 drivers. The drivers are made with DX9.

ATI is stupid. They say their new card supports DirectX 9, but the hardware doesn't make any difference. It's the drivers for the hardware that matter to support DirectX 9 or not.

well, there are no current games based on DX9 to test the card, besides the new catalyst drivers can improve a lot using together whit DX9, and if u want to benchmark ur card, better wait for 3dmark2003 :]
