Thanks 501XX, that is great news. However I think that I will wait for the final release before I install it. I tried a beta of DX 8.1 before the final release and BOY was I ever sorry. Thanks again for the info though.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

I will wait for the final release too because once I installed a beta geforce driver and my whole system crashed. I had to reinstall windows! So I think the safe thing to do is wait.

Heh. Am I the only one who doesn't have horror stories to tell about DX9? Man, I should install it, just so I can laugh at you people.

It doesn't work well if you have the SDKs installed? Ooh... thanks for the heads up.

at least for me, I installed the Directx 8.1 SDK and dxdiag said that there were too much debug dll files versions that decreased the performance. I noticed myself because several games using directx apis didn't work fine.

Yeah, I guess I am going to have to wait for the DX9 final so I can get the SDK then. I have the DX 8.1 SDK installed as well.

So Ninja, have you experimented any problems with your games with the SDK version?

Well, 3DMark seems to run like crap, but other than that I can't complain. I have absolutely no reason why my 3DMark score is so low to tell the truth, but I suppose I COULD blame it on the SDK.

As far as performance goes though, I keep the settings on retail, so I can't complain too much.

setting the LODBias to +15 is cheating. no point in benchmarking if you use other settings with normal gameplay -.-

why can't you?
anyway, i've browsed through the madonion.com 3dmark forums, and there are a LOT of people who tear their 'puter apart just to get a high 3dmark score (like running the game tests with different LODBiases, and then the theoretical tests with another LODBias setting); that's pure useless. they only want to show off, but they can't use those settings when using the machine they would everyday. i find this very lame..
