Hai, Alucardo desu. He's in Hellsing. I only now have Alucard Avatars everywhere so I'm instantly recognisable.

On the topic: This RC will run out in March, so expect a release before that
In truth, I'm expecting DX9 final to be here at the end of November at the earliest.

hmmmm.... methinks that a new 3DMark is forthcoming..... I can't wait. I dont' really see the point in trying DX9 at this point though. I can wait until the full release unless there is really something special I should be aware of.

An RC is not a beta version. It's the next step up. Basically it's what they want to be the final version but just want 1 more check to be sure. Assuming nothing major is spotted, the only difference between this version and the release will be the name.

Hence the "assuming nothing major is spotted"

Actually, there are usually several "RC" releases for MS products, with quite a few differences between them and the final release. Their concept of RC is that the feature set is frozen - IOW, no more features will be added or removed, and they're working only on optimizations and bugfixes.

Thanks Recca. djking, you post is totally useless and could be considered "spam" as Recca said, therefore I am deleting it. Don't do it again please.
As for DX9 RC 0, the fact that it is RC0 tells me that it is just before the final release. I agree w/Kane, I think we will be seeing the "final" release very shortly. I also agree w/Beta, I think that, unless some major problems are found, this WILL become the final release except for the name change. As for the name change, probably all they will do is is drop the RC0.
I'm going to wait for now until the final release is out, it shouldn't be to long now.
sincerely,
sx/amiga
