Savestatecentral official start

Finally , we are going ahead with our plans of starting a psx savestates site . In the past Mad (from Ngemu forums) started a project like this on a smaller scale but I always wanted to make a site which served various purposes via savestates. Some of you might be forced to think that what are the benefits of such a site.I would like to elaborate on these benefits-

1. First and foremost the actual purpose of savestates i.e. saved games. Now if you are stuck at some part of the game or messed up your memory card and want to reach some higher level in the game then you can simply download a savestate and reach that part.

2. Sometimes few people have troubles starting a game (e.g. Silent hill in the past,Winning eleven 2002) or games hangs/crashes the emu at certain part (Parasite eve 2), you can use the savestate in this case too.

3. Savestates can work as a good testing tool for emu authors / plugin authors .Sometimes there are glitches//bugs in the plugin which can be removed by testing the savestate (Nickk,Lewpy,Pete everyone does it).

4. Lastly, my favourite ,Use of savestates as "demos" for psx games. Save states can have pretty decent amount of gameplay stored in its memory. In this way it can work as a demo for the game and allow you to test a game before really buying it.

I have already uploaded some savestates on the site but I am looking for some cooperation from people willing to help. Currently we cant give access to everyone for uploading savestates on the site but those who are willing to help (and who have enough time to test there savestates before uploading )can contact me either in irc or pm me at ngemu or psxfanatics or simply mail me at pufffy_in@yahoo.com with details on how many games you have and how much gameplay is possible from the savestates of these games. After this I will provide you access to ftp so that you can upload your stuff. If you were already planning a similar site (or already made something like this) on your own then you can simply mail me details of the site along with permission to link to them from this site.

Keep Visiting the Site here.

http://www.savestatecentral.tk

It will soon be updated......

I really hope from my heart that this site becomes a success.

Thanks everyone.

Prafull: If you need some assistance from me on web development, I would be honoured to help you, since your website is of great potential, but very simple. Also the size of savestate is over I MB, and common email service providers like hotmail and Yahoo, won't be happy with larger attachments(over 1 MB). And allowing people to access ftp is a little bit dangerous.don't U think

Thanks for offering help. We will work on web development once we have a considerable number of savestates up and running.

In the past I have been exchanging savestates with few people using my isp email and also few email services which offer larger attachments but this will be too difficult to maintain on a larger scale (as we have to download it and upload it again). Thats why I will provide access to ftp uploads to only those who I think can be trusted and who will be able to help.If there are demands for some special games then we will use email as well.

Few people have already shown interest in this and I think very soon I will have decent number of savestates available on the site.

Btw here is alternate site.

Now this savestate site is a wonderful idea. There used to be a PSX memcards website, but the site went down a long time ago. Anyway savestates seem better to me, though occupying some more space in one's hard drive. Let's hope everyone contributes with something! I'll try, as soon as uni exams finish

I wouldn;t trust anyone on the main ftp. Maybe you should make another ftp, just for save states, and then transfer them over ?

Will there be sections like PAL, NTSC, NTSC\JP if you know what i mean. Just to make it easier for people.

PS: Do we send just save states other people are having problems with or any good savegames that we have:confused:

Won't be able to send any in the future cause my monitor is bummed.

Also a good idea would be to make sections like Sport, RPG, Fighting ect.

We are considering this. Those savestates which are uploaded for troubleshooting purposes will definitely have pal/ntsc indicator.

Currently you can save any savestate that has good demo value i.e. a lot of playing time available from the savestate itself. If you have savestate from any game that is really problematic you can send that too.

Note: Dont forget to inform me before sending though.
