Smile New Detonators for GeForce4

Over at 3dExtreme they have the new 28.32 Detonator drivers. These drivers are optimized for the GeForce4 family of cards. They allow full acceleration of the GeForce4's graphic capabilities. If you are interested, head on over to http://216.194.77.210 to check them out. This should especially be of interest to other GeForce4 owners, like me.
sincerely,

Just do not make the mistake of getting a Geforce 4 MX.

Do these new drivers also give a speed up to Geforce 2 cards?

I wonder about that too. By the way the driver download is a 8MB+ file. What new stuff do nVidia add to that?

Yeah 28.32 is OFFICIAL driver, nVidia site is already updated for such changes. Just wonder if any site has benchmark results.

They include drivers for all previous versions of their cards (what's called their Unified Driver Architecture) so you only have to download one set of drivers for all Nvidia cards. The new detonators are about 2 MB bigger than their previous 23.11 release, which should account for the GeForce 4 driver set.

You are correct Demigod79. The 28.32s are the first Nvidia Detonator drivers that are optimized for the GeForce4 family of cards as well as providing full acceleration for those cards. I am extremely pleased to finally have the correct drivers for my GeForce4 TI 4600.

why didnt nVIDIA make better various downloads for different cards? I mean something like:

TNT cards: 2mb
Geforce: 2mb
Geforce 2: 2mb
Geforce 3: 2mb
Geforce 4: 2mb
Quadro: 2mb

it could be better for some 56k modems ^^

I would assume so. These are the first drivers to officially support the NV17 and NV25.

Shadow Lady: Nvidia uses their UDA (unified driver architecture) so that people wouldn't have to search around for individual drivers. It's much less of a hassle that way. Sure it takes a lot longer to download for modem users but 8 MB shouldn't really take that long (maybe half an hour at the most).

My 3d Mark 2k1 SE went up with these drivers,in fatc it's the best score I've ever had,and I have a GF2 Pro,so I guess it's safe to say that all GF2 owners can install these drivers.

Demigod79, you are correct in your assumption. When Nvidia said that these new drivers (the 28.32s) were optimized for the GeForce4 family of cards, they ment the GeForce4 MXs as well. Not just the higher end cards.
