Emufakers at it again.... this time epsxe 1.7.1

So yeah, just a heads up, we have another nutcase goin about editing the resources on emulators again,.

this time, as is stated in the title, its epsxe 1.7.1, some obvious markers to its fakeness, comes through the fact the so called "dev", couldn't write a change list if his life depended on it, let alone make it believeable..... and the fact he only has so far posted it on a rom site.

....not going to post the site... but Any threads regarding this release will likely either be ignored or closed as there are no possible official forks of epsxe, being a closed source project, and the devs preferred not to post it at shady sites, and I have no way to contact the developer since the epsxe mail domain went down when our lovely host did its server swap.

Im sure there will be a 1.7.1 at some point, but the so called fixes in this emufake don't add up. (not to mention the official builds don't use 0.5MB of padding at the end of the file)

Any threads regarded to hacked versions of emulators will indeed be closed. Respect for a developer's wishes regarding to its program is one of the prime values here.

in addition to closing any threads we should remove any direct links to the files as well if they happen to get posted on the forums here, who knows what kind of malware could be bundled in with this thing.

It comes with a bundled BIOS, btw. Funnily, without zlib.

ePSXe.exe filesize
Legit 1.7.0 : 269 kilobytes
Version "1.7.1" : 2060 kilobytes (2 megabytes)

On top of that, he downloaded a BIOS, let me ban the bastard

Anyway, it's not like people can't find a bios using google either, different queries, same results.

Meh, fair use, not like they'll be knocking on your door either. It's simply personal use of an object you bought, with which you can do as you please as long as you don't use it for malicious deeds I guess.

.
i agree although even the top antivirus programs are good they don't always capture everything until you fire up the program, and then wham it's got ya, antivirus kicks in then you have a corrupted o/s
like earlier someone on another forum pm'd me asking if i was the creator of a bit of software (i won't say what even for the curious) suffice to say it was linked up to some dodgy warez site

Ok i agree, But thease emulators for some small updates can take years not months

So people get bord of waiting and hakers takeover the show, Even though i should not some times it intresting to see what they have done to the emulator it self!, Although i will use the original developers emu when or when ever it comes out.

That haked Project 1.7.0.55 was fantastic, Although developers could use the information from the haked version to improve there own emu, Sort of a balance !

There were NO improvements in 1.7.055. that weren't already in 1.7.0.49
