There are many reasons to use a Game Boy emulator instead: - lower input latency - lower system overhead (no need to emulate the SNES, with bsnes of all emulators) - Game Boy Color support - some SGB features can be faked And many where only true SNES-based SGB emulation will suffice: - Space Invaders arcade mode does not work at all in Game Boy emulators - SNES-enhanced sound effects (Bomberman 2, Donkey Kong, Contra 3, etc) require the SNES DSP - the SGB borders can be animated (Castlevania Adventure ending), or change while playing / after beating the game - the SGB borders can vary based upon the SGB BIOS used - the SGB has built-in colorization palettes for dozens of popular DMG-only games - the SGB BIOS allows you to manually edit the color palette, draw your own custom borders (even on top of the Game Boy video) with a mouse, etc - and there's about a dozen other obscure SGB commands that Game Boy emulators don't simulate, but they're very uncommon bsnes' SGB support is true emulation wile bgb's is a simulation. My quick observations: - Zelda DX border doesn't show up in CGB+SGB mode - Bomberman 2 bomb sound effect doesn't work - Bomberman 2 multi-player doesn't work It's up to you what you want to use, but both the CGB+SGB Game Boy only emulators and the SNES+SGB emulators have a purpose. I may support the link cable some day, but it'll be very tough. Last edited by byuu; 2 Weeks Ago at 00:14.. |
