it's because your trying to use your old plugins from the previous emulator in your new 1 no doubt old gpu plugin was 290 KB new gpu plugin 336 KB delete the gpu plugins and your ini files from your emulator folder then start again

thanx for your help, i set "gpu=" in demul.ini manually to "gpuOglv3.dll" and it works now.
is anyone running virtua striker 2 ver 2000 successfully, btw? im using the mame rom in naomi emulation, but it crashes either at the beginning or after one game. does "starts with interpreter" mean i can change it back after start to dynarec? the interpreter cpu mode is really slow here, while dynarec seems to run full speed without frameskipping.

sorry my friend i just looked in the compatibility text that comes with the emulator and it says |vs2_2k | 2 | H | joystick with 3 buttons | |Test, Yes | boot, Yes |Game, Yes |notes, protection unemulated |
which as far as i know means that it will work, but the protection hasn't been cracked yet, so yes it will probably crash don't worry it'll get sorted

Anyone know if the 64-bit version is marginally faster that it's worth switching an OS for?

good to know, ive only checked here:
DEMUL - Sega Dreamcast Emulator for Windows
but i guess thats for the chd version, i only have the normal cdi which runs fine in nulldc (without joypad support ) and stopped working for whatever reason in good old chankast (probably daemon tools problem). drives me nuts, not being able to play this stone age game

ive heard that mame 64 is about 25-50% faster compared to the 32bit version, so that would be interesting to know.

You'll have to search for them yourself, sorry but there are rules on this *and many other* forum, we aren't allowed to show members where to get ROMS.

that list is quite old 05 april 2009 and also just for the dreamcast, and for some reason hasn't been updated yet. i'll ask if i can post the compatibility list but it probably won't be allowed

I downloaded it and installed it - in fact, the setup just had an option to repair visual c++ to original state, but when I start the emulator, it still reports the same error.

My specs:

Windows XP SP3
Athlon AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 5200+
4GB RAM
NVidia 8800 GeForce GTS 320MB VRAM

And I repeat, I didn't have a problem with previous version of demul, at all.
