Desmume 0.8.0b1 WIP

I released the first DeSmuME official WIP build I talked and discussed about here. Get this one, and (hopefully) upcoming ones here.

The change log from the build (there are more changes on the Mac OS build, but are unrelated to this WIP).

Quote:
General/Core:
- Added "high-level" check for DMAs and Timer for minor (really minor) speed up [shash]
- Changed instruction execution to 16 at a time blocks, gives up to 33% gain (tested and stable) [shash]
- Really minor memory access speed up (mainly added for clarity) [shash]
- Added transparency and fixed material alpha support and alpha testing on the 3D core [shash]
- Changed how depth initial values are calculated (fixes SM64DS skybox) [shash]
Windows port:
- Removed the bug report link with a define, to avoid reports from betas/external builds [shash]
- Added the version on window bar to recognize versions from screenshots [shash]
Enjoy

Nice work

Any chance of dual/quad core support in the future?

Keep up the great work

i dont think this emu needs dual/quad core support. it hardly takes up any cpu to begin with.

Not likely coming from me, as I own a Pentium4. I know I can code the support perfectly on a PC without multiple cores, but I wouldn't get any measurable profiling information, thus I prefer to leave it to someone who can code and test it properly.

Thanks for responding.

Will be great when desmumes 3d core gets a speedup. The sound emulation on desmume is the best out of any emulator and the only one that doesn't experience crackles.

The 3D core ISN'T the slowest part of desmume when showing 3D, please don't assume it is: in fact I'm quite fed up of reading the same thing. The only thing missing would be a texture cache, but the rest is quite fast as it is. I won't go into detail here, but CPU and memory emulation are the major bottlenecks (and on official version, the crappy 2D core).

I stand corrected, sorry for making the obvious assumption

No need to apologize, it's just that reading the same over and over gets a bit annoying. I guess I should post some profiling information some day :P

That drop down menu bug is still there...I know shash isn't the GUI guy, but from what I remember it was a simple little thing to fix

Well, it's rather easy to fix (maybe 30 minutes top for all the windows), as seems the drop down sizes are wrong for some reason I don't know. If I remember to, I'll fix it for the next release

Cool, it was just one of those little annoying things that keeps getting overlooked, i mean i doubt there are many people that really use those menus, except for sprite ripping and stuff like me
