Is it possible to play Fable on this emulator? If so, how should I go about... acquiring it (Pm me for that part ^_~)

No. You can't. Read the stickies in the Cxbx section (they apply here), only a handful of games are compatible with Cxbx, and it's the same with Dxbx.

Actually, it's worse with Dxbx, as we're not yet on the same level of API-hooking as Cxbx. In short : Dxbx doesn't work yet. And for anyone wondering: Yes, I'm still watching this project. No, I'm not actively participating. No, I don't know if or when I will pick it up once more. But on the bright side : I still keep in touch with shadow_tj, and he's still working on Dxbx (although with short bursts, and on irregular intervals). There is also something else going on which might incite me to work in Dxbx once more - lets keep it at that for now. ;-) |

If you think I was asking if I could play a game, you are sadly mistaken. I was asking, if the new halo was the reason he was going to be working on it again. Try to comprehend before you try to insult.

Sorry for the insult, but you also understand the thing about all the game questions. I am sick and tired of the questions that this or that games are playable or not. And the first question you started the topic with was the question if fable was playable.. and you only typed 'Halo Ostx ?' . So i already combined the two games in a compatible question. ( and i almost placed a comment that the new Halo was a xbox 360 game thats not playable on a xbox 1 emulator ) :P But its probably not the new halo game, why he is thinking of spending more time

I think putting your money into the PC version of Fable will be a better investment, plus it probably runs better than it would on an emu. I'd like to leave Xbox emus as "when it's done", so ask no questions until someone gets a game 100% playable.

For games that has also been ported to the pc.. its better to play the ported version instead of emulation. But not all games are ported to a pc version, like games like burnout. People like to play these games and thats why there are emulators. We like to build programs so making a emulator is fun to build because you learn new things and its not something you make with a normal day job. |

it seems there is some lack of interest/support from the emulation community for x-box emulation. so,I think this is one of the main reason the X-box Emualtion didn't progress that mach now. just look what happening in other emulators: Like Dolphin and PCSX2 the community is deeply supporting and because those emulators are open source, some of them are actually helping developing those emulatros. those emulators are in High stage of development. it's sad we didn't see that happening with X-box emulation. I know it's very complex console, but surly the lack of help/ interest from the community and the focus on other consoles is another main reasons for that. the enorm porblem is that caustik is far of his own creation, he stop to code in it because i suppose that he´s not interest.., (is easy to know that if you want make a emu, you need the console and disarm all but the people has the console and someday think: why i´m tryng this if i can play it directly in the console?) is too hard to know this codes because every hardware and device is diferent, the code exeption are very hard to know what be can do...because there are no clue of nothing i mean, the only thing that i know if that xbox games has differents types of videos like .sfd xmv, and .tre, there are a good appi aplication with pads, 3d good, i don´t know how sdk can play this videos in win32 system there must be a convertion, but maybe there not all the videos converted ..the same case could hapen with the sound, others shadders, vertex , or some specials effects for this reason the emu need more code, but who will do that ?? there are a lot of libs, opendk, headers and more, but the new dev must to read everything and guess all for he does something...using a good debugger and tryng and tryng to fix something maybe someday here we can to see some progress like blues did note: all my respect to caustik is a awesone dev. I think the issue comes from the popularity of modded Xboxs and the many Xbox games that had PC versions as well. Unfortunately relying on the original hardware is terrible future-proofing, and obviously not all games had PC versions. Hopefully once a game or 2 start to run properly, more interest will pick up which will cause more developers which will cause more compatibility and then snowball into the popularity the other emulators have (and in fact should be preferable for multi-platform games from having best visuals and in theory the lowest system requirements)
