I'm currently running an Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz with 6GB of DDR2 with a GeForce 8800GTS 320mb. I'm averaging pretty steady playable frame rates of 17-20fps in "Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition". I was wondering if upgrading my GPU would do much to boost performance, or is "Dolphin" bottlenecked more by the CPU or the software implementation of the emulator itself? |

No. A CPU upgrade would make a difference though. Dolphin, for the most part, is often CPU limited unless the GPU used is really crappy. You could try OCing your CPU.

dolphin is most CPU dependent, a good GPU will have a slightly speed boost

i'am on a e8400@3 and i get like 45 and with other audio throttle off,i get about 70-85,,and 110-140 when opening doors...lol at opening doors boost..i have not played in a few days but it was something like that from what i remember..with good monitor lighter and color settings from the graphics card,u wouldn't need graphics settings on high within dolphin and also put some space between u and the monitor,a your good 2 go....i'am no expert, just giving a speed boost idea.... sorry,,Wrong Resident EviL...don't call the COPSSSssss Last edited by 1inuyasha; October 14th, 2009 at 08:07.. |
