turning off the sound

when i try to stop the sound from the plugin by disabling hle audio,dtk audio and other audio and then try to play pokemon colosseum the game freezes at the nintendo screen,so i`m wondering if this is this is the right way to turn off the sound

Does turning the volume slider down to 0% on the HLE-DSP config not work?

Some games wait for audio events, so you can't just disable them completely.
