Should Dolphin run well on my machine?

Sorry for creating this kind of thread, but I've done a lot of research and could not understand why Dolphin should or should not run well on my machine.

My specs are as follows:

QX6850 3.00GHz
4,00 GB DDR2 RAM
GeForce 8800 GTX 768 MB
Windows XP Professional x64 Service Pack 2

I did not mess much with Dolphin's configuration, other than enabling Dual Core support. I've kept the default settings for graphics and everything else.

With this configuration, I can run Super Smash Bros. Brawl at around 10 fps. Is this about right, or should I be able to run it faster? Is there any way to improve speed, other than disabling sound (I've tried that and did not get much of an improvement), or will I have to upgrade my hardware?

Thanks in advance and apologies for the n00biness.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm using build 3155 of Dolphin.
