Are my computer specs good for this

Um do you have to have the same type of hardware you would need for pcsx2 for this to work on your computer perfectly.

Amd athlon 64 3000+
1.81 GHz, 512 mb of ram
Nvidia geforce 6600

You asked about PCSX2 and yet you posted in the Dolphin section?

Anyway..I'll answer for both: No. Too slow. You'd have a better chance with Dolphin, though, but it'd still be really slow.

Ideal requirements for both emulators, at least in my mind:
2-4Ghz Dual/Quad Core 2[a Quad is not better than a dual for this]
1-4GB RAM[1 is fine]
Nvidia 8800GT or higher

Note that I wrote ideal, sort of like when publishers make system requirements. They post what they think is best, but it's not written in stone.

I have this exact setup with 1 mb of ram. Definitely, not a good enough CPU. You must upgrade to play either emu. However, Mupen64plus and Zsnes should play perfectly for you.

@Dax: Just to note... he didn't ask about PCSX2 at all. Reread his post. He was asking if he needed the same calibur of specs for Dolphin that he'd need for PCSX2... lol. Also, ideal specs would be the best stuff out there right now, since (unlike ZSNES, FakeNES, etc) there isn't a cut-off where having something better won't help it run any better than it already does.

@crhylove: You say ZSNES like it wouldn't run near-perfect on a P3 with half the RAM of what he has... XD.

@fcz_x: That's not a horrible setup either though. What kind of video card do you have though.

@thewonderer: Definitely could use more RAM, if nothing else (certainly the best thing overall for you to upgrade, not only for emulators but for your whole system). Though if you have the money, a better processor and video card would be good too.

However, instead of asking if you have what it takes, why don't you just give it a run? Unless you have a budget system from a half-decade ago (at which point you already know you won't be running anything very intensive), better to just try things to see how they run for you.

I have a 7600gt and it works fine. Its the cpu that limits the emulator and in my experience you dont get much improvement over 3.2ghz I have my E6600 at 3.6ghz.

Really wonder if pcsx2 (or Dolphin) work on many netbooks. Since I am quite into netbooks, I would really check it out on my netbooks. Although I am afraid the specifications of my Dell Inspiron Mini 12 are not good enough. However, I want to get a new netbook anyhow, will have a look at the specifications mentioned above before I buy one.

Yes, but don't expect any games to be playable any time soon. You *might* be able to get some halfway decent (for a netbook) performance in the latest PCSX2 beta playing a 2D game like Disgaea, but Dolphin is out of the question.
