Good Enough System?
I'm looking to upgrade my machine, and one specific I'd like to do with the new machine is play Wii games at full speed. Is this system going to be good enough? And can I even use that PCIe drive as a boot drive for XP? This config is < $550 on Newegg!

You should have no problem to play gamecube games and most wii games (even if they do still need to be optimised) I didnt know you could have such a good config for that price!

Incorrect, jaimeld. Your best way to play Wii in PC... Intel E8400,8600, and ALSO 8800. ![]() The intel i7 is not the best.. It is much better but no different.. It is only about 5 fps increase or maybe 10 fps increase.. It doesn't matter. Therefore, I suggest you to buy Wii console.. It is much better than the emulator anyway. Obviously, some people play this emulator illegal because they dont have Wii/GC.

I prefer PC gaming. I play exclusively console emulators and Urban Terror. Occasionally I'll throw in some Civ 2. I don't actually like gaming as much as I enjoy getting emulators to run properly and at higher resolution than offered on a HD TV. I'll never buy a console. Of any kind, for any reason. So a Phenom Quad Core isn't good enough? Any Phenom Quad Core owners out there want to respond?

That Phenom will not be good for emulation....they aren't OC very well, and almost all today games only uses 2 cores, so having 4 will give you no boost at all. For PC Gaming and emulation go with Intel, any E8xxx CPU paired with an OC mobo will give you almost 4GHz and a very good speed on any game (PC or emulation). The vga is good. If you still wanna try with AMD, the Phenom II line must be your choice, those CPUs are a GREAT line of AMD.

That's right and that's 'cause I say him to use an E8xxx model from Intel, I don't live where he lives and so I cannot say him a price, but I think that he can build an Intel rig without passing the $500 barrier...and the performan ce will be much greater than If he use that Phenom X4. and HOW do you think to play an emu if you don't own the original console???

I dont knw if anyone knw this but i tested something... If u have a intel E6850 and E8400,E8400 will pwn E6850. For what?It depends on Cache of each chip. It dont depend everything on the mhz of the chip.AMD have low cache, that is bad for emulation.I post this if anyone dont knw that, dont blame me. Last edited by jaimeld; January 17th, 2009 at 19:02.. AMD only reaches Intel performance with their new Phenom II line, some people said that is more powerfull than their Corei7 counterparts...but that's another story.

the e7200 has the same features of the the e8200 but have less cache, meaning, only have 3mb instead of 6mb. If you play fine with that CPU then Dolphin like use MHz over anything else....but again, clock wise MHz.
