[Wii] Wii Sports (Official Thread)

[Wii] Wii Sports (Official Thread)

Wii Sports (PAL) is working with sound in the latest revision.

Worked since: At least revision 1128
Plugin: DirectX and OpenGL
Wii settings: Disable Progressive Scan
Advanced settings: Disable Optimize Quantizers

Videos courtesy of Shuffle2: Bowling, Golf
Recommended settings: If you have a slow PC try the EFB hack in the OpenGL plugin, I got a huge speed gain with it (with the downside that I lose some on screen displays, for the example the on screen instructions for Boxing).

Functionality

Tennis: Confirmed working
Baseball: Confirmed working
Bowling: Confirmed working
Golf: Confirmed working
Boxing: Confirmed working

Emulated Wiimote (Keyboard) functionality

The games use the accelerometer and there is currently no keyboard buttons that really simulate more than very simple Wiimote movements. You may be able get some effects with button S (Z axis shake of Wiimote) and 3 and 4 (Y axis tilt) like shown in the pictures below.

Tennis: You can throw up the ball by pressing S and 3 or 4, but you can't hit it
Baseball: You can hit the ball by pressing and holding 3 short before the ball arrives
Bowling: You can throw the ball by holding B and then pressing S once to swing back and then again to swing forward, then let go of B
Golf: You can hit the ball with S
Boxing: You can throw some punches with S and 3 and 4, but only for the hand that is emulated by the Wiimote, there is no equivalent emulation of shaking the Nunchuck yet

Awesome!
Also, I'm guessing some of the graphics issues may be able to be fixed with the proper Mii support..hmm

Yes I noticed that too. But I think I fixed it in revision 1135 . Sound addresses can span over 48 MB, and all over 32 MB was broken before, meaning random broken sound in the game.

Actually, we could make a list of the games that currently works because there are only two or three different Wii AX sound versions. Someone mentioned that Sonic Secret Rings also works now. Here's the list

Wii Sports version (CRC 0xfa450138) ( works)
  • Sonic and the Secret Rings
  • Wii Sports

Raving Rabbids version (CRC 0x347112ba) ( doesn't work yet)
  • LEGO Batman
  • Mario Kart Wii
  • Pokemon Battle Revolution
  • Rayman Raving Rabbids
  • Top Spin 3
  • Wario Land Shake It

Do you say that Wario Land Shake works or it is just for the noises ?
And before additions, anime have better sound than noise maybe a value usefull for sound in this game.

I'm saying that Wario Land Shake It doesn't work. The list is games that doesn't work, the list is games that work.
