Correct me if I'm wrong, but the stuff on Shash's blog site for DeSmuME won't make it in the official release, will it? I'm just curious. I thought I heard him say that in other threads before.

Well no, not at the moment. Especially not with people giving shash attititude like they did a few days ago.
However some of the stuff from there has been implemented, basically any 3D DeSmuME has (even if it's not much) comes from there. So we can only hope that one day shash feels inspired again to transfer some more of it into the public releases and that people then finally show him the respect he deserves.

Eh, I don't know why would one make a development blog only to talk about progress which other people won't see. Might as-well just txt it and forget about the blog then.
Now, I don't want to speak for Shash or anything, but the last time I've been on #DeSmuME (which was admittedly a looong time ago), the problems were related to being difficult to work as a team and not necessarily being stubborn and not releasing his stuff. That wasn't only a problem on his side though, others complained about it too. Please, correct me if I'm wrong. |

ImPOsteR: I see it as a personal diary of development, but made public. For example, I love strmnnrmn's blog about Daedalus (a Nintendo64 emulator) for PSP development, even if I don't have a PSP. I've always enjoyed reading this type of blogs, but there're few about emulation, so I just wanted to contribute a bit. I thought it would be fun reading it again myself in few years, I've a quite a few friends (coders, mostly) that enjoy reading it even if they're not interested at all on the emulator or the DS itself. So with all this motives, and being sure that I wouldn't loose it on an HD crash, I think it's a really good way to document my desmume / DS emulation findings and developments

Imposter: my main concerns about releasing anything atm (official build or not) are about the debugging capabilities of Desmume (atleast, without using gdb, which I'd die before touching it) are rather limited: no breakpoints, no memory registers view, etc. If it's not useful for developing, I see no point on releasing an emulator of a console still in sale.

Well, I don't intend on making a big issue. I read the other thread and I don't want something like that happening again. I was just curious if these blog updates will make it in one day.
Good luck Shash, and I hope to see many improvements in DeSmuME.

No big deal, they'll be released whenever desmume is an useful tool for developers, and that involves re-coding most of the debug utilities.
