Is DeSmuME dead?

Simple as that.
Is somebody still working on DeSmuME? (My best guess is shash but I know he was never so focused in this project).

Officially, no. Last release was less than 2 months ago, last windows release being 3 months ago, so I would like to know where do you get your information/assumptions from...

And what would that mean? I've been 100% focused on desmume for months, just that I don't really have any motivation to release most of my work.

Hey take it easy shash.
I was just wondering. Because iDeaS and No$GBA are releasing new versions and I don't see a new version of DeSmuME.
I just asked that because I really like this emu and it would be a shame if it was discontinued.

I know you are/were working on it, but you always said to not thank you because you didn't any great colaboration with the released versions (I know that your version is great, but afaik it was never complete implemented in any official release).

Well, that's it, sorry if my post looked agressive, I was just worried.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that DeSmuME is not dead

Something "big" is gonna happen if there is no update for a while. Right Shash? hehehhe...

And why should Desmume releases follow those of Ideas or no$gba? That doesn't make any sense. Does Ubuntu release new versions when Microsoft releases new Vista Service Packs?

You don't know because you didn't care to read the ChangeLog, I implemented my 3D core, rotating/scaling sprites, some major speed ups to the 2D core, and hundreds of other fixes, which would take too much to explain.

It's not like I'm trying to be rude on purpose, but answering the same question one time after another is getting annoying...

Better don't hold your breath... Don't expect anything to happen, atleast coming from me, anytime soon.

Well, this is a forum and I didn't ask this question directly for you.
If you are angry I can do nothing.
BTW I DID care to read the changelog and I can post the link to at least 3 post of you saying to not thank you because you didn't do anything special in that version.

When did I say that DeSmuME releases HAVE to follow iDeaS and No$GBA releases? I said that I was worried, just it.

Man, I guess you need to calm down.
I said nothing agressive, and if a simple question in a forum affects you this way (if, at least, I asked when the next version will be released, I'd understand you. But I didn't!) it's time to re-think what you want.

I'm not angry, neither will be for this. If you can't stand direct answers about FACTS that you did get wrong or forgot, it's not like you should be posting. Making questions without proper prior investigation often leads to that type of answers.

I've done stuff in the official desmume since 0.5.0. Not all my colaborations were as good as the ones for 0.7.0 or 0.7.1, but they're there.

Quoting another post of yours in this thread: I was just wondering. Because iDeaS and No$GBA are releasing new versions and I don't see a new version of DeSmuME.. This leads easily to presume that release cycles should "magically" be equal, which is complete nonsense.

If someone wants to talk about dead then ngemu's news is dead sinc they do not update on what is going on or are always late.

Latest news on desmume at shash's Emu Dev
as the site says
"Speed has increased about 2x-5x (depending on game) in a year, while having way better (or almost perfect) 3D, so I guess it hasn't been a total waste of time... Have fun "

Take it easy buddy.... we're not all in high school anymore with loads of time on our hands. AFAIK the news page is very up-to-date now... with Bobbi back and the addition of Hard core Rikki to the team, it will most likely stay like that.

ALSO, we don't necessarly have to post every WIP news out there (especially that last blog entry isnt really new development, just a look back on a great year).
No offense shash I don't check your blog often hehe

As for DeSmuMe dead... ha! I've seen **** loads of emus that have way longer periods of time in between release... no reason to panic.
I'll leave this thread open, but please... no flamming or spamming. k thx

No problem, it's normal to don't consider every WIP blog post as news, more keeping in mind that many are too "simple" to even be considered news

its usually the simple things that shut whiners up xD

even if its just "today i changed a letter in one of the menu options" its enough to tell the "you must release a new version every day or the project is dead" bunch to keep quiet :P

yeah which is why i said the news is pretty much dead or at least not worth it since the forums seem to be the main drive. I agree its not important to post every little thing but even major things are not posted unlike this site. EmuHQ.com - Emulation News and Emulator Database For The World! .: We know emulation! Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sega, Aracade and all types of emulation news, articles, and downloads!
You guys have an rss feed but its pointless. an rss for the forums might be a better idea.
Even not going to the main page is not possible from the forums that easily are at least not easily visable, and even if it was it is not working now only under rss feeds which shows outdated news.

Its ok that no one has time to update since their are other sites to check for news. But this site does have the programmers come on and post to talk to them from time to time which brings in th charm. The emulator authors have more weight than most even if it takes them 1 month or many months to update they get the attention. if thy go then they dont want anymore attention which they got what they wanted and they dont have to answer to anyone. The same thing goes with the ps2 authors.

The #1 selling game platform is the DS and so the DS emulators are on top now and the people on top are Lino andShashclp out of the rest. Also the other 2 but I don't see no$gba author on and the other guy is rare or i don't remember. Even if the ps3 emulator was out it would not get as much attention. Even the PS2 game system is over hyped in sales since 1/2 of its sale are from people that had to buy the system again. The PS3 $700 can not be done the same since no one will pay another $700 for a system like that.

If anyone cares I can post a sales chart of the top systems.

PS
Hey refraction that is almost a good idea lol Maybe have a monthly update since that would drive more people to the site, but even the little news that is posted on pcsx2 gets its rating up which works You notice when pcsx2 rating was the last time it came out for windows how it spiked? Again no need for any news from you guys but it does help to let people know that you are not dead. just like how everyone knows cocacola but they sitll advertise to say "hey we are still around".
Traffic Details for: pcsx2.net/

The reason no$gba author wont be on because he had a problem with stupid people on his own forum before and he shut it down and he do not want to come here to do that. He just came here to read and take some ideas or something like that.

He need a break from annoying people he had experience with and he can focus on his program alone and email only for the bugs and anything else isn't include the bugs will be delete from his email. I applaud him for his hard working and keep him away from the forum to reduce the trouble. lino, ody, martin, and shashclp are doing a good jobs. Not just lino and shashclp so you are wrong. Nothing is the best top systems, anyway. Nope.

With fame come annoying attention which some people like the attention and have time for it and some don't.

Yes the top selling game system is th DS which sells over 2 times more than the second best system and the most popular systems. It's my job to know this, but I do not say since I as well do not want the attention.

DS sold slightly over 50 million
psp sold slightly under 25
wii over 12
360 11
ps3 who cares since ps2 sells more lol

I dont even know why im replying to you. ...

First off, if you want to take your news off another website, by all means go ahead and dont come here to complain.

Second, we cover onley next-gen news... so the atari $hit... well we dont give a $hit... So all the next gen news on emuhq is here on ngemu... (you know NG = Next-gen....)

Bobbi made the freakin RSS feeds VERY visible from the forums... I dont know why you brought that up... (If you cant find them, you're obviously not checking the mainpage news)

Aniway... if you're a retro kind of guy. Then by all means, go ahead and get your news somewhere else as we only cover the nextgen stuff, but dont come here and complain that we dont post everything here.
