This is gonna be a stupid question, but Longhorn is going to be the next O/S to update XP, right? i.e 98 to 95, ME to 98 etc? Cause so far, all the new O/S's are for networks/servers.

But in any case, I doubt that WGF is only for Longhorn, cause M$ has to realize that not all of us are gonna switch immediately....meaning that they are gonna be left with their pants down when no one uses their software, or other developers software using WGF. I'm sure there will be a patch or something for XP, at least.

My thoughts exactly. I'm not sure what M$ plans on doing with this. I just hope we don't have problems with it like when Windows 95 was first released.

Ive worked with DX9 some in the .net arena and something tells me that wtf..errr wgf will bring about some new security breaches. Also im sure that DX9 and below will work fine under the new wgf..at least for the most part unless M$ failed to learn from there mistakes. ex. the compatibility mode in XP just stinks to high heaven..its worthless almost.

I have the feeling that WGF will be harder to use as well. At first I wasn't enthused about WGF, but now I can't wait Of course WGF will be more complicated to "hack", so it will give us hackers something to do
