If its a commercial game then i'm 100% sure it wont work, if its a homebrew abb then you need to attach the cxbx.dll with it

1. The cxbx xdk tracker allows you to find out the XDK version the game was made with so we can see if the game is compatible and work on getting those commercial games to work.

2. There are 3 ways. Use either the XDK, OpenXDK, or the libSDLx. The XDK is the official Microsoft Xbos Dev kit. It is illegal to download so therefore I cannot give you any links or info as to how to find it here. Sorry . If you have the OpenXDK, you can make xbox games freely with no legal problem. You can find the latest src at www.sourceforge.net -> OpenXDK. libSDLx, I have no idea how to use it, yet. If you want to give it a try, learn SDL first, if not already. If you have any more questions about these, send me a Private Message and i'll go in depth.

3. The Cxbx source is the latest src for Cxbx. With the latest src you can play a few commercial games like turok and halo (halo is not playable yet). A few others show intro movies and then crash. We cannot help you with CVS builds here because it against the forum rules. In order to compile the latest src, you need the following: Visual Studio 6 or higher, DirectX8 SDK or better, and the latest OpenXDK src. The current release on the website is not the latest.

I hope all of that sunk in. By the way, you asked some decent questions for a noob

EDIT: About the Excption thing. Not all games are playable. Most commercial games will give you an exception. By the way, if it's not too much trouble, what game were you trying to play?
