Sigh... New Screen Shots

Hello forum, this forum has been quiet lately, so lets jazz it up a bit with some screen shots, shall we? Ok, here goes...

First up is Mame-X. These are screenshots from Mame-X .61 (I've never seen a higher version before...). If you want to try it for yourself, make sure you have at least one rom in your roms directory, or it will crash!!! For those who have the 0.7.8c version, it will still run. Mame-X is NOT playable yet. But it's still quite functional. You can switch between clones you have in your rom directory without a problem. By the way, rom loading is faster in 0.7.8c, but most of you will never know the difference . You cannot switch to CPS2+NeoGeo only mode because Cxbx doesn't support multiple xbe execution yet. So you can run the CPS2+NeoGeo version seperatly. How can you tell the difference? the CPS2+NeoGeo version is blue and the other is green . When trying to load a rom, you might get an error saying certain files are missing. Sometimes you have to rename the files so Mame-X can read them. The Mame .61 core is rather old. If the rom loads sucessfully, then it will crash. Even though this is not playable, keep in mind that large games like Metal Slug X will NOT work because Mame-X will quickly run out of memory (that is, with the version I have). If there is a new version out there, I'm sure the author has already fixed that problem. Games lower than 30 MB should not cause problems.

Below a screen shots from the Non-CPS2+NeoGeo xbe

ExtremeGB

Made a little progress with this emulator. So far we got the grey screen. Please feel free to try any of these because I think i compiled the latest CVS wrong (I think some old 0.7.8c stuff got mixed in).

HandyX

I hate to say it but handyx has regressed this time. It doesn't get as far as it did before. I made two screenshots to show it. One is from 0.7.8c and one is from the latest CVS. On the 0.7.8c, it actually finds the roms and tells you what it found.

SniperBox

I'll just assume that most of you already knew about this one (i didnt), but the SniperBox demo is fully playable, but the Xbox controler on the little help menu doesn't show up when you press the help button. Is my Graphics card to weak?

Unknown Game

Let's just say this xbe "Popped up" on my PC one day without knowing exactly where it came from. I have no idea what this is. All I know is that its 4627, shows a background like handyx and GBAX, has no title, and crashes. I posted this screenshot so maybe one of you guys can figure it out. But don't stress on it. I'm a busy man with lots to do right now, I'll figure it out later when i feel like it, that's if none of you can right off the bat. I got up early in the morning to post these screenshots, enjoy.

EDIT: oops, for got to add the screenshot, silly me!

Surreal 64x

Screen shots from Surreal 64x will be comming soon, as soon as I get a copy.

EDIT: Surreal 64x is funny... on some pcs it shows nothing but a blank screen. On my pc, I get a Xref only error message.

DGenX

DGenX is now fully playable. At first it would just hang after loading a game. But now graphics and sound are (almost) 100% accurate. There are a few noticable glitches. Streets of Rage Fans will notice them right away. Some sounds are played at different pitches and frequencys. Graphical glitches are rare but occur mostly with Streets of rage and others like Itchy and scratchy. But some games like Sailor Moon run perfectly with no problems at all. They are not enough to bother me but some others might be annoyed. Needless to say, no emulation is perfect. Not every rom is playable. So far the only one I know of is Bart vs. The space mutants. The controlls are a bit wierd, but it's still great to see Cxbx making such progress.

EDIT: Oops, forgot to click upload!

Ohhhh, ok. I get it now, I'll work on a Cxbx version of Mame-X when I get a chance for all you Metal Slug fans like me. I'll talk it over with the authors.

EDIT: Mame core .61 is quite OLD, I'll try a recent core like 0.86

More Mame-X screen shots

I got ahold of some old versions of Mame-X. None of them were playable, but it's odd that Cxbx 0.7.8c emulates them better than 0.8.0. Will actually load a rom before crashing.

The very fist version of Mame-x, you had to go through EVERY supported game on the list LOL
