are you using the released binaries or the CVS?
the current release does not play Halo

if you downloaded from CXBX website then it does not play Halo. only the CVS one that you need to compile yourself can boot Halo (not sure if it goes ingame though...)
please dont ask how to compile, obtain CVS version. it is freely available for everyone but we give no support for those versions

Another problem, after I got the cvs and compiled it, this happened.
Says:

Recieved exception code: 0xc0000000005 @ EIP =: 0x0053D1E0
And some other blah blah

dont know....
thats what i meant...we dont give support for CVS versions...sorry
too many people get errors and since its not an official release, people shouldnt be bugged with those kind of questions. i guess youll have to wait for another release unless you figure out how to fix it yourself

Ok, first of all, did you read the Progress with Halo thread, if so that would awnser your problem (i think). Anyway, you MUST run the xbe in debug mode, retail mode just crashes. Does that fix your problem? Even if it does, at a certain point halo will crash.
