Alternate cxbx releases

I know this is a stupid thread for just coming back now but...

Where are people getting all these other releases? Are all these people really getting ahold of the cvs? I really wish I had .net... Is there another place to get more recent binaries? There hasn't been site news in months...

the CVS isn't that hard to get a hold of...it's on the mainpage on their sourceforge page

That's exactly where the "other" releases are comming from. People are compiling the CVS source and treating the finish product as a unofficial build.

Isn't it kind of weird that the project is open source yet it's against the "rules" to ask help about the dev tree? I understand that the main developers have other things to do than help people with it, but still, i find it a bit harsh not to be able to exchange about it.

Maybe a more complex forum with subcategories would help..

No, it's not weird in our opinion. We love to support users with builds, which have been tested before the release and are declared as stable. If you compile the CVS for yourself, you do so at own risk and without any official support - and those people, which *should* compile the CVS tree (because they can support the project) don't need support. Simple as that.

CXBX compiles just fine on microsofts old 'real compilers'. There is no need to be a .net whore to use this.
