I have been meaning to test this for ages. However, I think it is a bit early to be saying cxbx is fully compatible. A lot will change over the development of longhorn.

Kevin

P.S. I do hope you obtained your copy of Windows Longhorn legally. What build did you test under btw? 4074?

Well, cxbx emulates a modded win2k kernel, so I automatically assumed it would work.

Kevin, he just told you what the build version was.

I can try it with the 4074 PDC Build, as soon as I get round to installing it.

blueshogun96: It may not work in Windows Longhorn. Microsoft may still make changes which would fubar cxbx running. Windows XP and Windows 2000 have incompatibilities so it is not unreasonable to assume that XP and Longhorn (which will be a much larger jump) will have incompatibilities as well.

but the longhorn beta isn't a public beta, so how do you have it to test on?

My thoughts exactly.

Edit: Seems this is your third strike, wile. Take a 5-day breather.

As long as windows longhorn will be backward compatible to win xp sp 1 there should be no problem. The backward compatibilty should be ok I think because cxbx uses almost everything a normal app uses. Only changes in the NT API could bring some trouble.
The FS stuff will stay the same I think, otherwise many apps which are designed for xp/2000 will not work.
