GeForce FX 5600

the GeForce FX 5600 is a direct-x9 card, correct, im thinking about buying it for my pretty new 1.8ghz computer.
Also, since 1.8ghz is somewhat slow, im going to try running Turok on it.

why don't you rather get a radeon 9600xt (its cheaper and the performance is way better than the geforce 5600!!)

Some PC's don't have AGP slots (like mine for instance, it was bought August 2003). I have a Geforce FX 5200 plus (decent ). The makers of GeForce doesn't assume every PC has an AGP slot. But on the other hand, your right. Radeon is better than GeForce. But still, I'd reccomend 9700+.

Aren't you missing the point of getting such a high performance video card by crippling it with the slow PCI standard?

Like I said, you can't assume everyone has AGP

Gforce Is Sweet

Geforce works best for the emulator for one thing and the geforce 6800 ultras performance beats anything ati will have out for a while.36 sumthing gigs of mem bandwidth operating at 1100 mhz

Sorry to burst your bubble but ATI already has a card that's faster than the GF6800. The X800 XT has been out for over a month now.

oh i wouldnt say that the X800XT BEATS the GF6800 very equal cards..at some X800 wins and at some the GF6800, were just going to have to wait a little longer to see more reviews and of the final product for 6800 since X800's are already out.

Id wait until reviews from more trustable sites n stuff come out, but both seem to be doing very strong .

Uh, excuse me, but the XT800 uses PCI express, which is faster than AGP, PERIOD. I hate it when people are so biased about video card brands. The best is the best, not the favorite.

The X800 XT does NOT use PCI Express, but the unreleased X880 XT PCIe does. Probably won't make much difference anyway.

Uh, adding to what Clements said, the ATi x880 XT doesn't actualy natively run in PCI express as stated by ATi, if the Inquirer is right, it uses a similar technique to that of nVidia...

damn

in what ways is the x800 xt better cuz i dont think x800xt will have more memory bandwith then the 6800 ultras 36. sumthing GB/s and can u honestly tell me the x800 xt will have a clock faster then the 6800 ultras 1.1 ghz.besides all that speeds not the most important thing anyways textures are and nvidias shaders kick ass over atis.

and oh yeah the chick in your banner raziel is sexy as hell.

gforce cards have a big draw back. Heat and size and Power. Ati gets equaly or better cards with out these drawbacks.

For my part I have been a nvidia supporter from the start, but considering a upgrade from a geforcefx5200 to something better i was brought to a decision where i had to look at the price / performance relation. Sure nvidia rocks (i've only had nvidia since my s3savage4) but when looking at various benchmarks all over the net, i realised that the higher up on the performance ladder you get , the more expensive nvidia cards are in comparisson to the ati ones - whereas performance wise the ati cards are equal if not better.
in regards to that new geforce6800 - that card is a monster! but quite unaffordable for me at this stage. So ati ,here i come!

I'm rather horrified at the idea of a coming PCI-Express slot that will make my current card useless and force me to upgrade my mobo and video in one swipe...

I just finished upgrading too!

umm...not really. it's not like as soon as PCI express comes out, all of the sudden the 9800 pro will suck. you've got to realize, people are still playing games on geforce 2's and 3s. so your 9800 pro will still be good for years, trust me.
