Question Caustik, are you afraid of Microsoft?

Caustik. Do you have the feeling that sometime during the development of the emu Microsoft will find a way to stop you from doing it? I don't know much about this but are you sure that what you're doing is completely legal?

This might be a stupid question. you have probably thought much more about it than me. but don't you get the feeling that Microsoft can stop you whenever they want?

Re: Caustik, are you afraid of Microsoft?

lolz he shouldn't have anything to worry about .. to be honest i dont see how reverse engineering could ever be illegal, or why microsoft never made xbox games cross platform so they could be played on pcs as well. I mean its only the games they make a profit from. Most console companies make a loss from selling the hardware.

Re: Caustik, are you afraid of Microsoft?

Its not like Caustik is trying to compete with them. He's not making a xoB-X and packaging it and sellin it.

Re: Caustik, are you afraid of Microsoft?

well, you see, you need to know a bit about law to figger this one out. It does not matter what something says in its EULA. All programs stick to a set of laws that cannot be changed without going to parliment. You are aloud to do all of the stuff above, on the condition you do not share this information with others. Caustik is still not in trouble, because he is not actualy distributing this information, he is making a program out of it. All _free_ emulation is legal. It is considered to be in a 'grey' area because alot of people dont know that companys cant just make there own EULA, this is what companys want you to think.
Another example (that only affects people in the EU) is that although stores say that you only have a 6 month warrenty, or whatever, your warrenty lasts for 6 years. no matter what you buy, no matter what a shop says. If a product breaks during that first 6 years, you are legaly entitled to a free repair(if it is in a reprable state), although you still need to pay for shipping+handling if applicable...

Re: Caustik, are you afraid of Microsoft?

As long as the emu is free, I don't think any company will sue him. Thats the problem with VGS and Bleem!, they make profit from it and Sony burnt them down.

Re: Caustik, are you afraid of Microsoft?

He's doing it for the sake of doing something really cool and helpful, not to mention free. He's doing it out of charity. As long as he's not making money off of it(Donations are donations, not sales), Then I think he should continue to kick ass.

Word to ya Caustik.

Re: Caustik, are you afraid of Microsoft?

Personaly fu_-_ck the transaction for money ..

i hate membership to download somthing or veiw.

i hate money sites that requir money transaction to become a member.

i hate the law how it wants to keep everybodys hard work a source of employment...

people talk about world all the time when.. there hard work such as the console out there now a days.. depened money transaction to employe the unemployed.

why can't work for free and have credit system showing the hard working employee went to work that spacific day .. then in the credit system allwoing a certain allowance per day ..

long complacating system in my head right now.. i am gonna follow up on a new post... on this theory .. check me out later.

Re: Caustik, are you afraid of Microsoft?

No one can stop no one. He shouldnt be scared! If anything Micro$oft should be thanking him. By the time he gets the emu to play commervcial games fully X boxes term will have run out and people wont buy x box games no more. But thanks to emulators it keeps there markets up.
