Legal? Do you mean the Xbox DVD? Then how you would play it? With your comp DVD ROM? I don't think so.

You want to say Samsung DVD ROM xxx model, right [xxx = dunno the type] ? Also, the hacked firmware not easy to get, before you can flashed the bios. It's pretty rare you know, and how many of NGEmu members have it? I don't think 3 ppl or more [just some of emu author, perhaps, not normal member].

Re: ok so what is this about

I have firmware for both samsung and phillips. And a flasher. I am not going to post it or the location where I got it, at the risk of me getting banned from this beautiful, wonderful forum. You can contact me privately if you are actually interested, or anyone for that matter.

Any admins, If what I'm saying is still not ok please tell me so I don't get banned alright?

Re: ok so what is this about

1. The firmware without the drive is useless. You still need that rare Samsung DVD drive.
2. No, I don't ask for it. I don't have that drive, so it useless and I'm quite happy with my current Pioneer DVD ROM.
3. Both PM nor posting, IF it's illegal, not permitted as well.

Re: ok so what is this about

Naw. I'm getting it though. All I have is the firmware. I'm all prepared

You can get it on ebay for like 15 bucks. It's not as rare as they say it is. Take a look dude.

P.S. Do you know anything about that app that stinkyd is making?

Re: ok so what is this about

I have the moded drive in an Xbox, it is more than just flashing the firmware. Yes a PC can still read it, but it still cannot read original Xbox DVD's on a PC.the Firmware basically lets it read original xbox dvd's in the XBOX (All other drive replacement's will not read original games)

The firmware is the last method anyone should use to back up their games. First, chp your XBOX or use one of many known save exploits to load Linux. You can back up your discs and transfer the dump to your PC over a local network.

Re: ok so what is this about

dpence, thanks for clearing this up. Yes, I forgot that Samsung DVD isn't for PC to read Xbox DVD, but as another "hope" for Xbox DVD replacement.

Re: ok so what is this about

Overwriting the firmware could wreck your drive.

If stinkyd ever finishes his program and you have flashed firmware then it will be possible to read xboxdiscs on pc. But until stinky's done...
