CXBX isnt trying to emulate the hardware so you will not be able to run the BIOS.

Re: what about the bios?

i think he meant the dashboard... the dashboard is an xbe so i think it should be able to be emulated. but there must be some hardware (bios) specific variables or registers... like time and that stuff... don't know how the dashboard works..

did i talk about the bios? NO!
i only said that he maybe wanted to say dashboard, and the dashboard is an xbe file that maybe could be emulated!

and the bios isn't a kernel, the bios loads the kernel, like in the PC world.
anybody else who knows it correctly should answere here please!

Re: what about the bios?

the MSDashboard is yust a xbe file like all other xbe files from games and demo`s.
its not a badd idea to test cxbx with the msDashboard or EvoX dashboard. its has a lot into it play dvd music discs acces to the saved games and much more.

mmm i haven`t my computer at home.
pitty. but can someone place screenshots of MSDashboard or EvoX ..

prehaps prologic can place a section into the xdk tracker.

Re: what about the bios?

Ive tried all the dashboards that I can gind (including the original one) and they dont work. My guess is, they have been compiled with a later/earlier version of the XDK (i.e not 4627), and therefore, fundamently will never work, unless: they are recompiled to 4627, or
cxbx ever emulates that particular XDK...

Re: what about the bios?

i tried the original one... cxbx said that it could not converted into a *.exe file... don't know why... maybe caustik knows something about that problem. (i tried it with the 0.7.8-Pre1)

Re: what about the bios?

is evox open source? or is the source available? if it is, I'll try to recompile it to 4627...

Re: what about the bios?

Yeah caustik. Why does the shell fail? I've noticed that from the beginning.
